I remember in elementary school we didn't say black, we said African American. They made the word "black" (in reference to skin color) seem like a mean thing to say. This is wrong.
Not every black person here in America is African American.
Most black people in America whose families came here as slaves can't trace their ancestry back more than a couple generations. They're skin is also lighter sometimes and more on the brown spectrum and less dark skin.
African Americans know where their family is from in Africa. Their families came to America very recently as well.
My mom, for example, is a black American and my dad is a white American. Sure my dad's family came here from Germany and Ireland but we have no ties to those countries except for our name. Just like how my mom really has no ties to Africa except for her skin color.
Also African Americans are way more oblivious and ignorant to the black American struggle. African Americans are new to America so they don't understand the systemic racism that black Americans face their whole lives as well.
It's hard to talk to an African American about black American struggles. That's what spurred this "rant".
aight, that's all 4 now. hope I taught u somethin.
