WARNING. THE FOLLOWING IS ON A SIPER SENSITIVE SUBJECT: CULTURAL APPROPRIATION!!!! I have very unpopular opinions when it comes to this compared to some other people so please read the whole thing before you comment. if you leave an uneducated comment I will either correct you or delete it depending on my mood.

I'm mix. when I was little my all white brother had dreads and I liked them a lot because of him. he lived in California and smoked pot and went to the beach and all this shit. he didn't get dreads to stab at black people, or be 'edgy'. he got them because he liked them and saw other people around him with them and thought they were cool.

now maybe I can't speak because I don't know the whole history on dreads and because I'm not Rastafarian either, but where is the issue in dreads on white people?

it's a hairstyle.

oh and fun fact: in the bible, Sampson had dreads! my other brother told me that (:

same with cornrows. I knew this really nice white girl and she told me about how her moms friend or something gave her cornrows. so she went to camp with them on and everyone made fun of her and told her she was trying to be black and other shit like that. so she went home and took them out because she was already sensitive and all that attention drawn to her was not something she liked.

so like white people, who aren't famous, get made fun of a lot when they have cornrows anyway. like we've all heard that joke about 'when a white girl goes to the Bahamas' or whatever it was.

I had to get cornrows whenever I went to camp because I didn't know how to take care of my hair otherwise. am I cultural appropriating because I'm
half white?

yes, I believe it is sketchy when white girls tan themselves, get lip injections, and constantly do things that make them feel black. but I only have a problem with it if they're actually hurting black people.

like, on Twitter, this bitch was arguing on the side of the confederate flag and just being super anti black. her avi was so edited on her skin that for a minute I didn't realize she was white! it's ironic how bad she wants to be black, but will still fight for the confederate flag and call black people names.

and it's ironic how Kylie Jenner is constantly changing herself to look more black and what not.

if anything, let these people embarrass themselves. sure you can still drag them where needed, but if anything their stupidity is the real punishment.

if you're going to wear cornrows, get a dread in your hair, get lip injections, darken your skin, and date a black guy, you better know where you got all that shit from and you better pay your respects. when zendaya got attacked by the media for wearing dreads, you should've stood up for her.

how can you surround yourself by so much black culture but still switch sides of the street when a black man walks by?

also, before you dip into another culture, learn the boundaries. you need to show respect. yes, culture is supposed to be shared. I'm fucking living proof of that! but don't wear a Native American headdress because not even all the native Americans are wearing those, just the people who are being honored like their Chiefs. Show respect and know where crossing the line is.

but, my god, not everything in culture has to be unlocked by having a certain race in you. the world can not grow if you keep teaching people to stay in their lane. you'll start teaching your children that but all they hear is "I'm white, so I probably shouldn't date the black guy, so as to not offend anyone."

and then we're back in the fucking 1800s again!!!

also, not all white rappers are bad. ya boy Tyler Joseph is a fucking white rapper. idk about iggy azalea but I don't like her from what I've seen of her. no one has ever really had a problem with eminem culture wise but he has said some shit that's offended feminists. there also might be some dirt on eminem I'm not aware of but as far as I know he's in the clear. idk shit about hoodie allen but he's not very good music wise.

there aren't very many good white rappers to begin with (in my opinion). like why listen to them when you can listen to Kendrick Lamar. that's some good ass music right there, your life will be changed. but maybe I'm not the one to dictate on rap because I have a lot more alternative music on my phone than I have rap.

anyway, in America, it's not like these people aren't surrounded by these cultures day to day. they see them on TV and shit and are mislead by that. I think the main culture not so much shown in the media are Japanese cultures except for the anime that they show on Cartoon Network. ik white people really like Japanese stuff. sometimes they get weird with it. like to the point where I'm uncomfortable and I'm not even Asian.

idk. white people are always gonna be stealing shit but sometimes you gotta realize it's not out of racism. there was a black woman who said that black women marrying white guys was just a form of like modern slavery. like, thanks for shitting on my family but it is literally nothing like that (most of the time, for most people. you can date a racist but that's for another day.)

know when to pick your fights and know when you're being fucking annoying.

eventually the whole world will be mixed because our past barriers of stay in your lane will fall. Blacks marrying Asians, Asians marrying Whites, Whites marrying Mexicans, Mexicans marrying Indians, Indians marrying Jews, Jews marrying Muslims, and so on and so forth.

I see more and more interracial couples as time goes by and I like what I see.

I know there's gonna be people who don't agree with me and are offended by this but I can't help what I believe in. this culture appropriation shit hits close to home when you're part of both sides.

being black and white and constantly seeing shit about white people stealing black culture is hard to have an opinion on because you are the one being attacked and doing the attacking. I always see a lot of stuff about how white girls shouldn't wear cornrows and idk I just find that ridiculous.

but w/e. I'll probably regret posting this but fuck it.

(also it's not as popular but there are people who aren't white and do black things but no one gives them shit about it... like idk maybe it's because it isn't famous people doing it but how come Mexicans wear cornrows sometimes but I've never seen someone call them out. just the white people.)
