I know this chapter is a bit slow, and not much action, but it is needed to set the story up correctly. Please be patient. Thank you all for reading, and like always, any feedback would be helpful.

I woke up with a scream stuck in my throat. My heart racing and I beads of sweat all over my body. My head was spinning and it took a minute to get my bearings back, and realize where I was. Oh thank god that was only dream, truthfully it was nightmare.  I needed to clear my head.

“Whoa, I had way too much to drink at lunch. Stupid move Ava.” I told myself.

Next to me Xander was still sleeping. I lightly lifted his arm and slipped out of bed. I wasn’t ready for him to be awake. I needed to find a way to clear my head and figure out what that dream meant, if I could remember it. I knew if Xander was awake he would be pressuring me to remember. All I have left from the nightmare is the fear it brought me.

Slipping into the bathroom, I brushed the taste of stale bourbon out of my mouth, washed my face, and fixed my pony tail. Stepping back into the bedroom, Xander was still sound asleep. He had wrapped his arm around the pillow I left in place of my body. Hopefully, that will keep him from waking up for a little while.

Slipping on my shoes, I decided to go try and find the kitchen. I needed something to settle my stomach. Plus, I was in desperate need of an aspirin. That is what I get for having bourbon for lunch. Oh, well. Live and learn. Probably not.

I should have known better heading downstairs alone; sometimes I can be so blatantly stupid. I watched every corner hoping Klaus wouldn’t pop up. I really didn’t feel like defending myself against him.

Walking through the main hall, I noticed that everything for Xander and Klaus’s struggle had been picked up and repaired if possible. Or course like our bedroom, there were key pieces of furniture missing, but all in all if it wasn’t for the body shaped whole in the wood paneling you wouldn’t have known something went on here. I wonder who’s body made that whole? I hope it was Xander throwing Klaus into the wall. That brought an evil grin to my lips, Klaus defiantly needed to be taken down a peg or two.

Walking into the dining room, I went to the door I had seen in the corner next to the buffet. Opening it up enough to peek inside, I found a fully stocked butler’s pantry. Inside a mini-fridge, I found a diet Coke, and in one of the cabinets I found a bottle of Motrin. Grabbing two Motrin, I tossed them in my mouth, followed by a few swallows of diet Coke. As I was going through the cabinets trying to find the headache medicine I noticed another door on the other side of the pantry. Slowly opening that door, I again peeked inside. I don’t know what I was expecting, but what I saw was amazing.

There before me was the kitchen of my dreams. Every appliance you could imagine was there. It looked like an eight burner professional stove, with a stock pot filling spout, sub-zero refrigerator paneled in the rich wood of the cabinets, three ovens, warmer drawers, wine fridge, a huge farm house sink, and a gigantic center island, with all counters covered with rich granite. There was even a baker’s corner, with a cool white marble slab for rolling out dough.  This was a kitchen wet dreams were made of, if you loved to cook or bake that is. I know, I know. I’m such a dork. Still, just looking at it made me want to roll up my sleeves and be bake something.

I sat there peeking through the door, when I caught sight of the cutest little old woman, wearing a hot-pink and black apron, with the words DIVA, printed on the front. Just seeing her made me smile. She didn’t seem to notice me spying through the crack in the door, so I just stood there and watched her work.  She was in the middle of frosting a red velvet cake, humming to herself.
