After taking a quick shower, I pulled my hair up in a ponytail, put on a pair a jeans, looked through the shirt, and grabbed a non-pink one, and a pair Nikes I found in the closet. Grabbing a black hoodie, I walked into the bedroom. I couldn’t believe the mess. It looked like a tornado had hit. Surveying the destruction of the bedroom, I noticed the door was wide open.
“So, I guess I’m free to leave the bedroom now.” I said to no one. I couldn’t believe the mess. There wasn’t much left to the room after Xander pitched a fit. It looked like everything was broken in it, except maybe the bed. Still I could be wrong on that one. Still, thinking about what he did, sent chills down my spine. If I was being truthful about what happened, I was the cause of Xander’s freak out. I don’t know if I should be scared or flattered. Maybe if I would have just opened the bathroom door, he won’t have go into such a rage. Shit, what am I saying, this isn’t my fault. It’s his. Aarghhh… Stupid ass vampire.
I made my way to the hall, trying not to trip of step on anything. I paused at the threshold, and looked up and down the hall. Nobody was there, so I decided to make my way to Grace’s room. After knocking on the door with no answer, I opened it. Looking around, I saw that nobody was inside, so I closed the door and headed back down the hall towards the stairs. Since I wasn’t sure what room was Nicole’s, I figured I would try to find the kitchen to get a cup of coffee and maybe find an aspirin. I just kept praying I wouldn’t run in to Xander. I wasn’t ready to face him yet.
Once downstairs, I really had no clue which way to go. I figured the kitchen had to be somewhere near the dining room, so I headed that way. As I drew closer, I heard the girls laughing, so I knew I was walking in the right direction. Stepping into the dining room, there the three of them sat, eating breakfast. I tried to turn around and leave, but Grace saw me before I could exit.
“Hey, Mom. What’s up?”
“Good morning, baby. Good morning Nicole. How did you all sleep last?” I said, while taking a seat as far from Xander as possible.
“Fine, like a baby.” Nicole said.
“Fine mom. Are you hungry. There is so much food. I think there are some waffles, eggs, sausage, and toast left.”
“I’ll just have some toast and coffee, thanks.” Getting a cup of coffee off the buffet, I asked “So, what are you girls up to today?”
“Oh, Nicole and I are going to go for a run. Then who knows? Maybe more movies. You should see the collection they have. It is like a video store.”
“Sounds like fun. Maybe I’ll join you for a movie later.” I looked at Xander to see his reaction. “I’m glad you’re getting outside for a while. I know you wanted to go for a run yesterday.”
“I need it Mom. If I don’t keep in shape, I won’t make the track team. So what else are you going to do today?”
Looking at Xander, I said, “I have no clue. I’m sure something will come up to fill my time.”
Xander butted in asking, “Would you like to go for a walk later?”
I took a few bites of toast and lost my appetite.
“Maybe, we’ll see.” I said coldly.
I sat there listening to the girls idle chit chat. Wishing that I didn’t have a care in the world. I was happy that Grace was having a good time, but then why shouldn’t she be. She was out of school, living in a fantasy world. Compelled not to be scared. Still, I was grateful. It was one less thing for me to worry about, at least for right now.
Once the girls were done, they got up to get ready for their run. I so wanted to join them, but I knew now would not be a good time to push it.
I finally broke the silence. “So, nice job on the bedroom.”
