We took the same path back to the house that we did on the way to the waterfall. Making as many metal notes as possible, I wanted to make sure I could find this place again. Maybe I could sneak away, and go back there sometime alone. I loved the peacefulness, and Xander was right, it was a great place to clear your head.
As we walked up the gravel drive to the house, there parked right in front was a midnight black, Dodge Charger. Man I was a sucker for a hot muscle car. Could be why I work at a car dealership, or use to work. Man, I would love to take that on the road.
Looking past the car to the front door, there stood a man in total contrast to Xander. He had the same bright blue eyes, but his features were light and golden, while Xander were dark. Even their clothing was in contrast to each other. Xander wore a black jeans, shirt, and leather jacket. While this golden man wore blue jeans, a white button up shirt, opened up at the chest. If they were standing next to each other they would look like night and day.
Xander stopped dead his tracks, and pushed me behind him. Trying to either block my view from the man at the door, or me from the man. I couldn’t tell which. Then I heard him hiss through his teeth, “Speak of the devil, and the devil appears.” It only took me a second to realize this man was his brother, Klaus.
“What is he doing here?” I asked. As I reached for Xander’s hand. The closer we got the more I could feel the negative vibes off him. There was something sinister about his brother. It made my stomach turn in knots and bile raise in my throat.
“Hell if I know? But I’m sure we’ll find out. Just stay behind me.” He ordered. We continued to walk up to the front door of the house, me right behind Xander, and him leading the way.
“Hello brother.” Klaus greeted us from the front door.
“Hello brother.” Xander replied dryly. “What do I owe this pleasure?”
“I heard through the grape fine that you opened the house back up after all these years, so I thought I’d stop by for a brotherly visit.”
“Well, it was nice to see you, have a safe trip back to the depths of hell or wherever you came from.”
“Tisk, Tisk brother. Show some hospitality. I notice you have some house guests. I just wanted to introduce myself.” My heart skipped a beat. Where were Grace and Nicole? Oh, poor Nicole.
“Yes, that is why it would be best for you to leave.” Xander growled.
I stood there peeking out behind Xander. Intrigued by the dynamics between Xander and Klaus. The coldness between them could freeze hell. I was also beyond worried about Grace and Nicole. Did they already run into him.
“What, do your guest not know what you really are? I’m surprised at you. I didn’t think you played with your food.”
The next thing I knew, Klaus was behind me. Fangs bared. Before I could realize what was going on, Xander had me in his grasp, protecting me from Klaus.
Klaus began laughing. “Awe, so I see she is your little pet. So what is with the child? I thought you didn’t feed from kids.”
“Xander! Oh my God. Grace!!” I screamed. Fear ripped through me. He better not have touched Grace. I’d never forgive Xander if his brother hurt my daughter.
“Where is she brother.” Almost of if Xander read my mind he said. “There better not be a hair out of place on her head.”
“The little twit is in the house with Nicole. They’re both fine. Do you really think I’m that big of a monster. Shit, she’s a child. You should know me better than that.” Klaus said.
