Harmony's pov

I walked alone through the woods before stopping at a tall tree. I flew up onto a branch and sat down, letting my tail hang off.

I gazed up at the moon and the stars in the sky. I felt the tears in my eyes still running down my cheeks. I sat there for awhile, just crying to myself.

How could my sisters do this? How can they choose those creatures...over me?

I took in a shaky breath and after calming down a bit, did the only thing I could to calm myself. I began to sing.

Jack's pov

I walked through the woods, going in the direction that Harmony went in. I hope I can find her.

After a bit of searching, I was ready to give up when I heard a familiar voice singing. Feeling entranced, I followed it. I soon found the owner of the voice.

Harmony sat up on a branch with her tail hanging down and her wings tucked in. Her voice sounded shaky, but she continued to sing.

"Everybody hurts some days
It's okay to be afraid
Everybody hurts, everybody screams
Everybody feels this way and it's okay
Ladadadada, it's okay"

That's when I realized something. When she sings like this, she's actually expressing how she feels. She...hurts. I guess this is the first time her sisters have ever done something like this.

Harmony's pov

After singing my song, I heard someone approaching from behind. I had a hunch as to who it was, so I didn't bother turning to see them.

I kept my gaze on the sky, hoping for them to go away. Instead, the person climbed up and sat themselves beside me. When I caught a glimpse of blue out of the corner of my eye, I knew my hunch was correct.

"Go away, Jack. Can't you see I want to be left alone?"

"That was such a sad song."

He completely ignored my first statement. I hung my head down and asked, "You heard?"

"Yeah. I didn't think you'd be so hurt by your sister's decisions."

"I don't know what you're talking about."

I heard him chuckle beside me. "You don't have to hide it from me. I know what it feels like to have someone you care about suddenly turn their back on you."

I slowly picked my head up. "You do? Who did that to you?"

"You did."

My eyes widened and a quiet gasp escaped my lips. I finally turned my head and looked at him to see his masked face staring back at me.

"W-What?"

"We took you in. We fed you and gave you a home. We trusted you. We...I grew attached to you. And then you simply ran away, all so you could gain this power. Tell me, what did you plan to do with that power you have?"

I simply stared at him for a moment, trying to find the right words to answer him. "I...I wanted..."

I finally narrowed my eyes and looked back up at the sky, ashamed that I couldn't find an answer.

"Don't tell me you have no motive behind this?"

"I do...I did...it all started with revenge."

"Revenge on who?"

"The ones who killed us."

I felt more tears welling up in my eyes. I didn't want Jack to see me cry, so I stretched my wing out in front of me, hiding myself.

"I don't want to talk about this."

"Harmony. Don't shut me out."

I felt his hand against my wing. With teary eyes, I shoved his hand back with my wing before folding it up again. I glared at him.

"Do you think it's so simple? All our lives, all we wanted to do was sing. But our mom died when we were young while our dad did nothing but get drunk and abuse us. And when we showed our talents in school, everyone envied and toyed with us. The three of us always stuck together and took care of each other, hoping to one day leave all that behind and become singers. But then some of our classmates in college killed us. And with the power we gained, we got our revenge and I wanted nothing more than to show the world that no one could push us around anymore."

I quickly turned my head away in embarrassment. I can't believe I just explained all of that to him.

"I see. Now it makes sense."

I felt the tears pouring out of my eyes now. A grin slowly spread across my lips and I busted out laughing. I noticed Jack jump slightly and stare at me.

"Harmony? Why are you laughing...and crying?"

Once my laughter died down, I wiped my eyes and said, "I can't believe I told you all of that. I'm such a big mouth."

"Are you okay?"

I nodded and looked over at him. "Yeah. Thank you."

He tilted his head. "For what?"

"For listening and...for caring."

I gave him a small smile before looking back up at the sky. It grew quiet until Jack finally broke the silence.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Sure."

"Why did you...kiss me yesterday?"

I giggled. "So you've been wondering about that, huh? I'm guessing you liked it then?"

I glanced over at him. He was staring at the sky, completely silent. I assumed he was blushing under that mask of his. I let out a sigh.

"Because like I said. Things could've been different between us."

He finally turned back toward me. I simply smiled at him. It grew quiet again until Jack asked, "Does this mean you'll come back home and forget about all this?"

I frowned. "I don't know if my sisters really want to see me right now. They're probably still mad at me."

"They're not mad at you. They're waiting to welcome you back as a member of the household."

"Really?"

He nodded. "Really."

I smiled and hopped down from the branch. I looked up at Jack and told him, "Then I'll come back soon. I promise."

I flapped my wings and flew out into the night sky. I need time to rethink things before showing my face to my sisters again.

Jack's pov

I watched as Harmony flew into the sky, her large, white bat-like wings carrying her away. I sighed. She promised she'd come back, and after our little talk, I believe I can trust her.

Melody and Rhapsody will be happy to hear about this. I guess I'll head on back to the mansion then. Now all we have to do is wait.
