CHAPTER 23-
I stood in the shower replaying the events from last night, even through. Daneisha getting with my ex. Through Jarviss nervous break down I still consider last night to be in my top five.
The moment he said those words to me my whole world shifted. The way that I saw my life was totally different. Jarviss has taught me,of all people, to LOVE. to surrender myself, and trust someone other then myself to do everything. There really was not better feeling.
I was in the shower singing Mine by Taylor Swift smiling and singing.
"And I remember that fight 2:30 am
Seems everything was slipping right out of my hands
I ran out crying and you followed me out Into the street
Braced myself for the goodbye
Cause it's all I've ever known
Then you took me by surprise
You said I'll never leave you alone
You said I remember how it felt sitting by the water
And every time I look at you it's like the first time
I fell in love with a careless mans careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been MiN-----
I was cut off by a knock at the door
"What" I say frustrated they interrupted my jam session
"Some crazy white lady at the door. She say she needs to talk to you" said one of my younger sisters.
"What does she look like" I asked not expecting company.
"White I just said that duhh"
I swear these kids gonna make me choke one of em.
"She said she's your mama" she said confused.
At that instant I knew who she was, what I didn't know was why she was here? How did she even know where I lived? I quickly turned the water off grabbed my towel off the shelf and dried myself.
"Tell her ill be down in a minute."
I quickly got dressed, and within 2 minutes I was heading down stairs. When I came downstairs she was sitting on the couch looking worried.
"Hey mama," I said with a smile. "Everything ok?"
"Yes darling, everything's fine for now. Do you have a minute to talk somewhere in private."
"Yeah come one" I said leading her to the dining room and grabbing her a cup of water. She looked like she needed it. I handed it to her and she said
"Thank you, I guess I'll just get down to it. I know Jarviss has told you about his mother by now and her murder and everything."
"Yes" I said getting a little worried myself.
"Well, the day he got out he didn't go straight to my house he went to another home in an unruly neighborhood. There he got fixed in the wrong crowd started doing some of the wrong things an eventually got caught up. I saw him walking down the street and my heart instantly went out to him because he looked so much like my late husband. That's when I took him in. The day he left he went to the head of the Cartel ,which was the gang he was associated with, he told him that he wanted out. The head was actually cool with Jarviss leaving because he was a good worker, he never gave him any problems, and he really did want to see Jarviss do better. The only thing he told Jarviss was that if he let him out the game then Jarviss owed him a favor, that he would collect whenever he wanted. Jarviss was fine with it and after years passed he didn't think he stil owed the Cartel anything. Then one day Jarviss was out being Jarviss with his friends and apparently skating in a non skating zone. The police came and they all ran. Jarviss ran in the direction of North Brook park, and one of the officers were following him. He ran and he tripped over something large, it was a woman's body just lying there. He saw some people he recognized for the Cartel running away. Jarviss got taken in for questioning and the police officer said he would be able to indenting the guys. He didnt. Now the cartel are asking him to identify the guys but the wrong guys they gave him two pictures on who to say it looked like exactly, saying this was his favor. Jarviss just couldn't do it. The police noticed the Cartel following Jarviss and now they want him to testify against them saying they have been harassing him. He won't do it. Jarviss has to choose what he is going to do and he needs to make a decision fast. The Cartel are getting more and more inpatient as you can see they took it out on his face." She finished and sipped her water then said. "I need you to convince Jarviss to just do why the cartel wants so that he can go about his life, I don't want to see my baby in a box anytime soon."
"Mama I don't think he'll listen to me. He is very independent" I say thinking about the whole situation like DAMN!
"I know I just fear the worst" she said almost in tears.
I just sat there and consoled her thinking just thinking of how I could help him. Thinking of anything I could do. If anything happened to him I don't think I would ever be able to fully heal. At least not now, I need him.i just need him. After about 15 minutes she left not wanting Jarviss to wonder about where she is.
When she left I instantly picked up the phone and called my uncle. It rang and I prayed to God that it would work.
"Hello" he picked up.
I sighed.
"Unc, it's Dominique, I need your help."
