Chapter 12: Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

We pulled up to Toppers, my favorite ice-cream place since I was a little girrl. I walked out my car and examined him as he pulled the helmet off his head. I noticed that he was in need for a shave. He had this stubble going on that I actually liked. His hair was growing to, it had become more thick and curly. He had on a turquoise shirt with some black pants. He was rocking the hell out them polo shoes. His honey skin seemed even more radiant in the sun. His green eyes seemed to shine effortlessly. This boy was FINE.

He interrupted my thought process by saying

"Toppers, I love this place I haven't been here since I was a kid." He said very merrily.

"And there's the Jarviss that I'm used to seeing, now come on because I am STARVED."

We walked inside and grabbed a seat. We went on to talking and the the waitress walked up.

"Jarviss? I haven't seen you come through then doors since you were about this high" she said motioning her hand on his height, "who's is this pretty young lady."

"Hey Marlena," he replied "this is my friend from school Dominique."

"Hello " she turned to me.

"Pleased to meet you" I send back with a smile.

"So what do you two youngins want to eat."

"I'll have a monster bacon burger with a side of onion rings. And to drink I would like a sprite" I say

"And I'll have a order of chicken tenders with fries.and I'll have a coke." Jarviss said completing our order.

"I'll be right back with your drinks you guys. It was good seeing you Jacy."

Jarviss let out a sigh.

"Jacy" I say teasing him.

He laughed. "It's just a name my mom used to all me that stuck for awhile"

"You talk about your mother alot she must be an incredible woman."

"Well, she was." He said very dryly.

Was? As in she's dead. That must be so hard for him.

"I'm sorry" I reply

"Hey, I thought you were done with the apologies." He said laughing

I laughed back. "Do you mind me asking what happened."

He looked me directly in the eyes. As if he was looking right through me. Checking to see if my intentions were pure. Why I wanted to know so much about his personal life? Then he took a sigh in and finally began to talk.

"My mother was a great mother to me. She was also an exceptional woman. She just didn't have that good of a taste in men. I never knew my father he was never in my life. My mom had a bunch of different boyfriends but that all stopped when she met mr. Dylan. She was going out a lot more and then one day when I was 11 years old I came home and he was there. My mom had moved this man in. I never liked the dude. Something about this wasn't right. As soon as he moved in I started seeing bruises on my mother. I just never knew how she was getting them. Then one day when I was 13 I waked into the house to this monster beating the shit out of my mother. I rushed in and beat him even worst then he was beating her. The police came because of a noise complaint. My mom had the option to pursue charges on him, she didn't. He had the same opportunity for me, and he did. I was sentenced to a 6 months sentence in a detention center. During those 6 months my mom and mr. Dylan had gotten into a huge fight and he set the house on fire with her in it. I got out and went straight to the foster care system. Luckily a woman in the area fostered unruly boys and turned them around. She ended up actually adopting me, and that's what I've called home ever since."
