Day One
Morning - Halliwell Manor - Foyer
There was a small earthquake, shaking the house.
It stopped.
The sisters walked downstairs.
"Oh, God," Parker told them. "Not another aftershock."
"Yeah, well, at least they're getting smaller," Prue told them. "What was the main one? 4.3?"
"The radio said 4.5," Piper told them.
Poppy noticed that the earthquake had tilted a picture of their grandmother, straightening it back up. "There you go, Grams."
"Earthquakes give me the jeebies," Phoebe told them.
"Would that be the Phoebe Jeebies?" Piper asked.
"Oh, you know, it's the comedy stylings of Piper Halliwell," Parker told them.
"Prue, you're the only Halliwell that actually likes earthquakes," Poppy told her.
"I don't like them, but I don't go running through the house naked screaming 'run for your life' either," Prue told them.
"Okay, that is such an exaggeration," Phoebe told them. "I was wearing slippers."
They walked into the kitchen.
"Okay, okay, okay," Parker told them. "Does anybody smell that?"
"Yeah, uh, I caught a whiff of it first thing this morning," Phoebe told them. "I think it's coming from the basement."
"I don't know," Piper told them. "I called someone to come out and check. They should be here any..." The doorbell rang. "Now. I'll get it."
Piper walked out to get the door.
"We're never gonna pull this off," Prue told them.
"Everything's going to be fine," Poppy told her.
"Yeah, until the house blows up," Prue told them. "Look, this Bucklands VIP specifically requested for the dinner party to be here. Now, Claire may have prodded me into agreeing, but the point is I did agree, and--and..."
"Nothing has changed," Phoebe told her. "Piper and Poppy are gonna cook a feast. Parker and I will serve with grace. And Claire will kiss your ass." Piper walked in with a gas man, clearing her throat. "Trinomial talents."
"Morning, ladies," the gas man told them. "Wow. That's the smell?" Parker nodded. "Doesn't really smell like gas."
"Yeah, but if it is, we can't light the stove," Prue told him. "No stove. No dinner."
"Relax," Piper told her. "If we have to, I could have it cooked at the restaurant and brought here."
"Well, let me check it out and see what's up," the gas man told them.
"Great, thanks," Poppy told him. "The basement is thataway."
Poppy pointed at the basement door.
"Okay," the gas man told them, walking into the basement.
Poppy smiled teasingly. "Look, Parker. He's going into the basement, alone."
"Don't even start," Parker told them.
