I called Artfolli that night but it went straight to voice mail.

"Hi, you've reached Staz Artfolli. Ill call you back once I get the chance." beep

"Hey... Staz... Its Kenra, if you can, we can hangout at your place this weekend and whatnot. We don't have too... Uh- yeah." I hung up

Shortly after my phone buzzed.

"Hey, sorry I didn't answer. My family and I are at dinner. But for sure we can hang."
-staz

"Awesome!"

My mother walked in to my room,

"Its time for dinner. Come eat."

"Just a minute..."

"Hurry, your fathers waiting."

I cringed at that. Hes not even my actual father... Like, its God. My family is super religious. And me? Not so much that's for sure... I went down stairs while my mother was talking to my sister,

"Come sit."

"Im actually not hungry tonight, mother. I also need to catchup on my studies..."

"Come eat, youre making your father angry."

"Am I?"

My sister signaled for me to just sit down. I sighed and sat with them.

"As I was saying, Jewl, your brother is seeing Dr. Harris."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. I personally think I don't need to-"

"But you've made a friend! Its progress."

"I don't know about Staz, mother."

"Don't say that. I heard you make plans to go "hang out" with him this weekend. And it better be just a hang out"

"Yes mother, it is. I don't have to be there over night if you wouldn't want me too."

"A sleepover? This is good. Im glad youre already comfortable with, Staz?"

"Yes mother. But I might call it off."

"Oh no youre not. This is very exciting and new for you."

"Yes mother..."

"I do have to meet his parents first before you even go over there."

"Ill tell them that youd like to meet."

"Good. Now lets say grace."

That finished up the night, and I ate dinner quick so I didn't have to make conversation with my father. I wish my mother wasn't this religious. Its really creepy. Out living room has over 10 crosses in there. Its weird. And I cant refer her mom, mommy, mama. Only mother. Not that has anything to do with Christianity, but that's somewhat weird to.
