A M A L I A
(Ah-ma-Leah)"Recuerdate mí amor." Amalia's mother caressed her face.
"I know, Mami." Amalia breathed. "Bueno, I'm just letting you know." Jennifer breathed. Amalia nodded and unbuckled her seatbelt before exiting the car.
"Te amo, Mami." Amalia waved brightly. "Y yo tambien te amo, mí flor."
Translation? I love you too, my flower.
Amalia let out an exasperated sigh before turning towards the school. She watched as all of the other girls sauntered in with their tightly fitted clothes and high heels. And proceeded to watch in disgust as they boys looked at the girls from behind.
Luckily, she'd never have to worry about someone looking at her that way. The way she dressed ensured that. Long, loose skirt with a nice, solid, short-sleeved shirt that wasn't revealing, but it wasn't as if her mother would ever let her where anything else.
As she began her walk towards the entrance of the school she heard a familiar voice.
"That's her."
Scrunching her eyebrows together, Amalia turned to see the one person that made her heart thump harder.
Elliot Gray.
"You–You— Uh. Hi." Amalia stammered terribly. "Hey, Lia." He smiled at her.
'Lia-- He called me Lia. Ay díos, don't panic.' She thought to herself.
Elliot had liked Amalia for a while now. Though, his teammates told him that she was too much of a prude for him to have a chance with her.
Elliot hated that everyone called her that. Prude. She was raised in a strict Catholic environment, and truthfully, Elliot didn't mind. All of the other girls at the school would give themselves-- their bodies to any guy or girl who asked. He liked that Amalia respected herself enough to wait until marriage.
"Do you want to walk to first period with me?" He asked hopefully. Amalia nodded slowly before it became vigorous. "Y-Yeah, I'd love to." She breathed happily. "Great." Elliot nodded. Amalia's heart hammered so hard in her chest she was surprised he couldn't hear.
"So, did you study for the trigonometry quiz that Ms. Schrader is giving?" Elliot asked, trying to keep a conversation going. "Yeah, I did. I'm pretty proud of my trig notes too." Amalia nodded more confidently this time. "Nice." Elliot chuckled.
"Oh look, it's the jock and the virgin." Jenna laughed when she spotted them. Amalia's face fell and Elliot bit the inside of his cheek. "Was that absolutely necessary? Did you think 'Wow, I should go make their lives a living hell today because, why not.'?" Elliot questioned Jenna and her smirk faltered. "No," She averted her eyes to the floor. "Bye, Jenna." Elliot stated powerfully. She rolled her eyes before catching up to her group of friends.
"Thank you." Amalia mumbled. "No problem." Elliott let out a breath before they continued to walk to class.
