Chapter 31: Little patch of hope

DAEHYUN'S P.O.V

The moment we reached the hospital we all ran towards the person behind the counter. The girl looked really bored.

Himchan hyung went to the girl and asked,

"Can we know the names of the people that got into the hospital just today?" Himchan hyung said quickly. We all wanted to know if Stella was included with the people that got registered in the hospital today, but when the girl moves like a slow turtle hyung couldn't help but scream at her to go faster.

"Are you normally this slow?! We're in a hurry to know if a girl got registered here today! She might be in a critical condition right now and here you are as slow as a turtle!" He exclaimed to the girl. The girl got intimidated that she moved faster.

"What happened to the girl? And what's your relationship with the girl?" She asked.

"We don't know what happened to her. That's why we're here, aren't we? We came here to know her condition. And we're friends of hers." Yongguk hyung said calmly. He didn't want Himchan hyung to talk anymore, since he just shouted a few seconds ago.

"Well, I can't give you information since only family members are allowed to visit patients. Thank you and have a nice day." The girl said as she smirked and closed the log book.

"You little ---" Himchan hyung almost charged towards the girl behind the counter. We had to stop him before he caused a scene in this hospital.

While they were dealing with the situation, I took the log book from the counter. I looked at the patients that were registered today.

• YOO SI JIN --- GUNSHOT WOUND -- ROOM 40, 4TH FLOOR

• JEON KEVIN --- MILD INJURY IN THE ARM --- ROOM 31, 3RD FLOOR

• KIM MIN YOUNG --- FRACTURED WRIST --- ROOM 56, 5TH FLOOR

• YOON STELLA --- SLEEPING PILL OVERDOSE/COMA --- ROOM 39, 3RD FLOOR

• KANG JI HYO --- FALLING OVER THE STAIRS --- ROOM 27, 2ND FLOOR

• MIN YOON JI --- OVER EXHAUSTION --- ROOM 13, 1ST FLOOR

When I saw Stella's name, I accidentally let go of the log book, making it fall effortlessly onto the ground. She was in a coma? I didn't want to believe what I just read. But if it was written there, then it must be true. I got knocked back to reality when Zelo nudged me by the shoulder.

"Guys, we need to go to the 3rd floor, room 39." I said as they all looked at me confused.

"That's Stella's room." When I said that, they all came running towards the stairs. We all ran on the countless flights of stairs in the hospital. We were all out of breath as we went up, but we didn't stop. Once we landed on the 3rd loor, I saw how Himchan hyung sped through the long corridors and searched for the room. I don't know what he would have looked like if he read the log book. I don't think he would have handled it perfectly fine, knowing that Stella's condition is very unpredictable. Especially since she was in a coma.

"Hyung's, over here!" Jongup called to us as he was in front of a room that had a number 39 on the door.

Himchan hyung wasted no time and opened the door immediately. But when the door was fully opened, I couldn't get myself to walk in. My feet were trapped where they were, frozen as if I stepped on glue.

Right there, right in front of us. Stella's sleeping figure on the bed was the first thing we saw.

Himchan hyung went to her side and knelt down so he could be eye level with her. I saw how he stared at her, while shaking her slightly to try and wake her up. But no matter how many times he shook her, no matter how many times he called her name, it was no use.

A few minutes later, I finally found the courage to walk inside her room. I walked towards Stella's bed. Seeing her on this hospital bed, it made me sad. She was like a sister to me and these past few days, we were getting closer and closer. I don't want to sound like she's dying but I just found out she was in a coma. I know how people in coma's have a slight chance of waking up. From what I've experienced and watched on TV.

Minutes later, I decided to go just outside the room. To let everything sink in, since I didn't want to believe it at first.

My mind then came across the thought of Youngjae and that we still haven't heard from him. I took my phone in my hands and decided to try and call him. I might be lucky enough for him to answer my calls.

I dialed his number and pressed the phone against my ear. On the 3rd ring, he picked up.

"Yoboseyeo?"

"Yoboseyeo." Youngjae's voice answered.

"Youngjae-ah, we're at the hospital. Stella got poisoned." I kept hearing a girl's voice in the background but I paid no mind to it since it might be Min Ji.

"How is she?" Youngjae asked through the phone. I still don't know if he has feelings for Stella. If he did then he should be here at the hospital. But since he's not here then I guess he doesn't like her in any way.

I heard a glass being shattered and when I looked into the door I saw what was happening inside the room. Himchan hyung threw the glass vase onto the ground.

"Tell me who did this to her!!" Himchan hyung said as he was reaching for another glass vase. I think he wanted to throw it too. But it's a good thing that Yongguk hyung was there to stop him.

"Calm down Himchan. You're in a hospital."

I almost forgot about Youngjae on the phone. I was about to tell him what was happening since I'm sure he heard the hyungs. But I got startled by the loud beep that came through the things that were connected to Stella's body.

I don't know what that meant but I knew it wasn't good.

"Call the doctor! Quick!" Himchan hyung said as he rushed to Stella's side.

I ended the call and pushed my phone back into my pocket as I rushed towards the nurse's station on this floor.

"Nurse! Is there a doctor here?! There was a beep at our friend's room!! Please hurry!!" I said as I reached the station. The nurses looked alarmed but they called the doctor and followed me towards Stella's room.

When I got back to the room, with the doctors right behind me, I saw Himchan hyung by the corner of the room, it looks like he was close to crying. I wanted to comfort him but my eyes stayed glued to the doctor and the nurses, who were quick to work on Stella, who was now shaking uncontrollably on the bed.

"Nurse! She's undergoing a seizure!" The doctor exclaimed.

I decided to look away. I can't bear looking at Stella in this condition. I don't know what will happen to her. I don't know if the doctors and nurses can help. But for now, I'll just hope that they can. I hope in the end, Stella ends up okay.

"She's gaining consciousness, doctor." One of the nurses blurt out. I turned my head towards their direction and watch as Stella's finger was moving and then a second later it doesn't.

"Stella, if you're awake move your finger." The doctor said. We all watched intently, waiting for Stella to move her finger, but nothing happened.

"Stella, if you can hear me, can you move your finger." The doctor repeated, but the same results happened. She didn't move her finger.

The doctor sighed before, walking towards one of the nurse. The nurse grabs a piece of paper and writes something on it.

The doctor turns to us and smiles.

"What just happened doc?"

"Well, she just underwent a seizure earlier but it's okay now," the nurse handed him a piece of paper before he spoke again. "Her vital signs are beginning to get better." He said as he scanned through the piece of paper.

"She might be able to wake soon. But honestly, we don't know when exactly." He said as he frowned slightly. He nodded at us before announcing his leave.

We all thanked him as he walked out the door with his nurses.

I looked at Stella's sleeping figure as I smiled. She's gonna wake up soon. Our little Stella was going to be okay.
