In the local, the sight of Taylor was immediately blinded by strong colored lights, the noise caused by the music mixed with voice of the people present there was overwhelming. She couldn't hardly breathe. It wasn't the first time she came out, she had managed to escape from the view of Magnus several times over the years, or at least she thought she was smart enough not to be noticed. Taylor was surrounded by downworlders, she could smell them and taste their presence on the tongue. She never had to give explanations to anyone, so Taylor did not know to which world she belongs to neither if there was one in she would be accepted. But now she was there, beside the most important warlock in New York and she could not ask for better.
The two were holding hands as they went carefully between the people on the dance floor. Reached a private and less crowded space, the two immortals sat over red lounges. With the shoulders forward and the head held straight by the arms, Taylor watched with attention the place and the people who were there. Not far away there was a stage divided from the dance floor, a docile guy with glasses was playing a acoustic guitar and a pop song was replaced by a indie one. Next to the guy, a mundane, Taylor could understand it by the way he moved his hands - they were trembling with excitement - there was a young dark skinned woman. She was beautiful while she was playing her own instrument and singing the chorus of a song that perhaps the duo had written together.
What hit Taylor was the look of both. The girl gaze was hooked behind the second member of the band, that is the funny guy who was trying to show himself as a talented singer but he was a simple nerd. The look of him, instead, didn't move. He was looking at a defined point in the audience. Curious, Taylor got up from his awkward position and despite her name was being called by Magnus, she didn't stop. She moved a few steps forward, as long as a girl with orange hair caught her eyes because of her whistle and hands that were moving to cheer those who were exhibiting. She had already seen that girl. She felt it.
- "How tragic a unrequited love"- a sigh was held from the throat of Taylor, the breath of Magnus was stroking her throat, it made her feel cold.
- "What?" - asked the blonde, while she was following with eyes the orange girl that now came out of the club. The performance was over.
- "Those two guys who were on stage, those who you were watching with obsession. The brunette is clearly in love with the kid, but he only has eyes for someone else "- this time Taylor couldn't help but feel a tear wetting her cheek. A drop, invisible to any eye, but Taylor knew that it would be noticed by who was with her.
- "It's another conversation that we'll both pretend it never happened?" - she asked hesitantly.
- "I don't know what you're talking about, love"- the face of Magnus gently leaned on Taylor's shoulders. That was just too much. What was going on with him? What was going on with the world?
What did they mean those words and those gestures?
- "I need air" - Taylor left in a hurry without giving time to Magnus to stop her. He could do nothing in the midst of all that chaos.
- "Where are you going, bonita?" - a slimy hand brushed her body, physical contact from an unknown person frightened Taylor. But Taylor's touch was enough to make the male's hand go away.
- "I'm burning" - then he said looking the point where Taylor's fingers had touched him. Five black marks, as many as the fingers of her hand, marked the wrist of that men - a mundane. Taylor shivered in front of her actions.
- "No, you don't know what you're saying" - she talked while breathing was becoming impossible and the heart was beating louder and louder. She turned and run away, outdoor.
Breathing had becom difficult there too, she was no longer surrounded by walls, colors and people, but something was shaking her from inside. A sob broke her panic, a panic attack, the girl acknowledged late. She clenched her hands around her throat, then she lean with shoulders on a nearby wall. She didn't want to attract the attention of anyone, much less someone that she could hurt.
She had hurt someone.
This had never happened.
A part of her consciousness explained the misdeed with Magnus attitude, the same attitude that was now entering into her heart, giving her a hope that she thought was dead. Maybe he could love her – maybe finally he is starting to do it and her body - her curse - is feeling it.
- "Are you okay?" - the same red hair from before occupied her eyesight. Sitting on the street, now that she had calmed down, Taylor had obviously aroused some suspicion.
- "Thanks, I'm ..." - her words died on her tongue. Raised her head, Jocelyn Fairchild stared at her with worried eyes and different lips from the ones that she remembered. Well, she remebered her dead too and although the time for Taylor seemed to never pass, it had passed. So, if Jocelyn was really alive, she would be older. But her eyes weren't lying - Jocelyn Fairchild was there.
- "Next time don't drink too much if you can't take it. Hm. Sorry, I have to go now, I need to look for some answers " - the girl said quickly and embarrassed. Then she removed the black jacket she was wearing and leave it on the shoulders of Taylor who stared at her in disbelief. As soon as she realized that Jocelyn was leaving, Taylor got up, she needed to get some answers too.
- "Your ID sucks!" - someone cried from afar, with the same voice as that kid who an hour before had performed inside.
