Read the note at the end of the chapter, enjoy it.
The idea was unexpected, the words were spilling from Taylor's mouth as soon as she had thought. She felt immediately guilty, fearful of the response that Magnus would give her. Instead the man looked at her without surprise, as if the request had come not so unexpected as Taylor believed and in fact it wasn't. Magnus knew how little was missing at that moment, at the day when Taylor would ask him to take her to the Silent Brothers. The warlock didn't like to have relations with the Shadowhunters in general, Taylor was a good exception, so I didn't trust those people that seemed less human than the demons. However he could not deny to Taylor the truth, not anymore at least. Valentine's intentions weren't very clear and with her daughter in game, Jocelyn being missing, what would happen if he found Taylor defenseless and unaware of her true nature?
- "You're right, get ready, because you're going immediately" - Magnus' words shocked Taylor, the girl bit her lip, holding back a mixture of happiness and sorrow.
- "I thought you said that they are dangerous?" - Taylor asked worried.
-"They are, but Valentine is more dangerous" - was the laconic reply of Magnus.
- "I need to get dressed and then we can go" --
"First you demand freedom and then you get mad if I grant you that?" - asked Magnus irritated by the confused girl.
- "By the Angel Magnus! That's the point, I'm not your prisoner, I'm not here against my will, you don't have to grant me anything! " - shooted Taylor with the highest tone of voice, her hands clenched on the lapel of the warlock, their lips separated only by their breaths. - "I am much more than that Magnus, you know it" - Taylor bit her lips again before continuing - "Go, I have a destiny that is waiting for me" - the blonde said with irony.
- "A destiny that doesn't include me, as I have made it clear over the years" - Magnus's voice came muffled from the other side of the door, just when he decided to leave her alone, he already begun to make her angry.
-"You can't say certain things in front of my eyes?"- Taylor asked while she decided that dry out her hair would be a waste of time. The pink toes began to disappear and the girl was undecided whether to continue to be dyed or begin to return to the hair that once her mother loved to touch.
- "I have a hearttoo, my dear" – Taylor smiled to herself, Magnus was a living enigma.
- "Does this mean you're not coming with me, right?" - she said while wearing the clothes that she brought to the bathroom, a simple black jeans, a tank top in the same colour and a vintage denim shirt, too big for her. Exiting the bathroom, Magnus took and kissed her hand.
- "It's my shirt that, right? I think it is from my period in the sixties" - Taylor blushed but didn't answer, she didn't know what to say, neither wanted to try a new conversation that would not have led to anything except to more doubts.
- "I can almost hear your impatience, but before I send you to hell, I want you to figure out what you're going to meet. The Silent Brothers communicate without using words, using just their thoughts. Don't let their silence fool you. They'll hold the soul-sword to your head, and with its blade, carve the truth from your mind. If you're not strong enough... you will die " - Magnus spoke the last words with a different tone, it wasn'tconcern, but not even security. The man was divided into two parts, he knew that the strong and independent woman who was staring at him would made it, but at the same time her success would be the ruin of their bond.
