Sappho's POV
After my wonderful sleep i awoke fully refreshed and rejuveneated. I yawned and stretched my black spaggetti strap top rolling up and showing my flat some-what-toned tummy. Soon i thought that in about a year and a half it won't be so flat. At that disturbing thought i jerked and yanked down on the cotton fabric to conceal my stomach as if it would hide the fact i was going to be pregnant in a little over a year. With that over i walked into the bathroom- luckily the cabin was the first thing that Jarred showed me on the tour. When i reached the room i looked at the wall clock on the wall and it said it was 5:30 pm. i rubbed my eyes and stared at the clock and my eyes grew wide in recognition that i was asleep for over 24 hours!
In a flash i changed into this: and ran down to the pavilion. I slipped in next to Jarred-appearently we're supposed to sit with our cabin and began to pile food onoto my plate.
"You're supposed to give half of your food as an offering towards the gods," Jarred said and pointed towards the fire pit in the front of the room where a few campers were scrapping off some food off of their plate and murmering a few words before heading back to their seats. Hesitently I got up and walked towards the fire and dumped half of my yummy food into the fire.
"Mom," I said quietly as my food burned. " If you can hear me- can you please help me? I just want to fall in love and not have to worry about whose child I'll be pregnant with..."
When I didn't get a response I I turned away from the fire when I was hit with a message slamming into my head: And you will, my daughter just follow your heart- the worst situations aren't nearly as half as bad as they appear. Now go have fun. Forget about this prophecy and just have fun, your father would have wanted you to. I Have a present for you when you get back to your cabin. I smiled and went back to the Hecate table next to Jarred.
"Did she talk to you?" he asked through a mouthful of mashed poatoes.
"Yeah, why-does it happen often?"
"Yeah," a boy- my half brother- said from next to me, in a British Accent. "All children of Hecate have powers, everyone has the power of telepathy. Which is really helpful during our Greek history tests."
"But do Chiron and Dyonisis know?"
"Yeah," Jarred replied going off into a different conversation
"Can you try to read my mind?" I asked the boy.
The boy smirked his hazel sparkling, "I'd be glad to."
Suddenly I felt someone trying to probe through my mind. But then there was a soft whisper, as if someone was trying to tell a secret during a windstorm. My name's Stephen, Sappho. I am from Wales, I am fifteen and we haven't officially met, we be could great friends.
I smiled at Stephan and then tried it: Friends sounds Great, I only have two so far and thats Jarred and Caleb Blue.
Caleb Blue? Stephan replied. Him, you gotta either be desperate, ignorant, or a slut to hang out with him.
He doesn't seem like that, I thought quietly.
Yeah, you are ignorant. But you're also my half sister and I'm kind of forced to love you.
I giggled. Thanks, I can feel the love. If you don't mind my asking, why are you here if your Welsch?
Stephen chuckled then explained, my father claimed that it was easier to grow produce here so we settled in the middle of Chicago- very ironic, right?
I smiled and replied, Yeah- what do we do after dinner?
We have a camp fire tonight, so we just sit around and sing songs. It's not what I would like to do, but it's fun to pull tricks on the other campers. He replied slyly.
"Okay guys, it's time to head down towards the fire," Jarred announced.
"I'll explain what we're going to do at the fire," Stephen whispered as we got up and left dinner.
