Luke's POV
"Sappho!" I shouted as I watched her collapse. I ran over to her unconscious body. My fingers rested on her wrist, her pulse was steady but weak. I drew my hand away and pushed a few stray hairs from her face. my lips found their way to hers and softly pecked them and slowly pulled away.
I heard Marcus clear his throat. He was standing right beside me. "She has been conjuring up too much magic," He explained. "She must have had a bunch of incantations around her and her friends, while she was down there. Not to mention she teleported us to Manhattan then halfway across the country."
I head averted to see his face. "How do know all of this?"
He chuckled. "You should know, I'm not Hypnos'  son for nothing. I can read dreams and such."
I nodded and stood up, picking up Sappho and holding her, bridal style. my feet trudged their way through the long stalks of whatever is being grown.  Marcus didn't seem completely sure of what I was doing but followed otherwise. We needed to find shelter, then we could attend to Sappho. Surprisingly I wasn't upset when I learned Sappho was the daughter of Hecate, in fact I was kind of happy. There was only one problem, what if my feelings are only here because i'm going to become Kronos's host, and once I get Sappho to fall in love with me- if she ever does- that they will diminish once Kronos takes my body as his host. I couldn't do that to her, nor could I hold my feelings for her. If it meant making her safe, I would send her a million miles away. My heart would be gone, but it would be safe and sound with her.
