"Alex!"

I rolled my eyes and paused my game.

"What?" I called.

"Just get out here. Quick!"

I sighed and got up off the couch, heading into the front hall. Wes and Zeke were already there, but  Cassidy was missing.

"What's up? Where's Cas?" I asked.

Zeke sighed, "he wanted to go to the washroom before we go. Typical little brother."

"Okay, so again I ask: what's up?" I questioned again.

"We got wind that the Querto's have been hanging out on South street" Zeke explained.

"That's right on the boarder" I frowned.

"Yeah, that's why we're going down to check it out. If we catch them breaking the treaty then that gives us an excuse to take them out" Zeke said.

I grinned at the idea.

"Alright, let's go."

I turned to see Cassidy coming down the hall.

"Awesome" Wes smiled, "let's move out."

Zeke nodded.

The plate crashed into the wall beside my head.

"Well go then! Get out of my house!"

This time a bottle came whizzing towards me. I ducked and reached for my leather bag.

"I'm out of here" I huffed.

"Good!" my dad's face contorted into a scowl.

"God, I hate you!" I scoffed, opening the front door and then slamming it behind me.

Why I had stayed so long, I really wasn't sure. I hitched my bag further up on my shoulder and pressed the backs of my hands to my eyes; I would not cry. I looked around at the dim streetlights and sighed. I guess I'd always expected this. I'd had my bag packed since the first time my dad and I had fought. I had just never imagined that the fight that finally caused me to leave would happen at 1:30 in the morning. I stuffed my hands in my pockets as I made my way down the street. Where was I going to go? I should have thought all of this out before hand. I would go to a friends house... if I had any friends. I didn't even have any relatives in town.

I turned the corner and started down another dimly lit road. I slowed down when I saw a group of figures up ahead. They were standing in a circle talking and laughing and admittedly didn't look very dangerous, but I still crossed to the other side of the street just to be safe. The chatter almost immediately died and all four figures turned in my direction. It was four guys.

Don't come over here, I silently pleaded.

I was so busy paying attention to the guys on the other side of the street that I didn't even noticed the three guys who had walked out of the alley in front of me to block my path.

"Now, why would a pretty girl like you be out here at this time? A little late don't you think? There could be dangerous people lurking about" the first guy asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Just trying to get past, so move" I muttered, going to step around him.

As soon as I tried though, an arm snaked its way around my waist, a pair of lips pressing against my ear, "I don't think so."
