"Pardon me?" I asked, trying to keep from showing how angry I was.

There was no way Eli had just said that.

"I just think that Zeke may have been onto something when he said that she is at the centre of all of our problems" Eli sneered in response.

Jack cut in then, but honestly, I didn't hear what she said. Blood was boiling in my ears as my eyes met with Eli's. How dare he? None of what was happening was Jack's fault; she hadn't even known about the two gangs before about a week ago.

"What do you suppose we do then" I cut Jack off, "if you think she's such a big problem?"

I was no longer keeping my cool. I couldn't. For some reason, the idea that Eli could ever possibly think poorly of Jack angered me a lot.

"Give the Quertos what they want" Eli shrugged, causing me to clench my fists, "What's the big deal anyways-"

"Enough" Cassidy stood up.

I immediately unclenched my fists, almost against my own will. Cassidy sort of had that affect on people, even if he'd only spoken it.

"Now is not the time to be talking about this" he said, glancing at Domonic and Chloe.

"So" Domonic started awkwardly, "how did you all meet?"

Jack and I exchanged a look and I suddenly felt bad for almost fighting in front of her.

"Well..." she started.

"Our moms" I blurted while at the same time Alex smoothly said, "our dads."

Alex and I met gazes.

"Our dads" I corrected while Alex raised an eyebrow, "our moms?"

"Our parents were all friends" Cassidy smiled convincingly.

Domonic nodded his head slowly, "right..."

"So, jack, what classes do you have next?" Zach asked.

"We're hoping that we have one with you!" Chase exclaimed.

"Um... I have math and then I have math and then I have dance which I unfortunately won't be able to participate in for a bit" I replied, thankful for the subject change.

"We have math with you!" Zach and Chase yelled together, "it's also the only class that the two of us have together."

They gave me identical goofy smiles and I chuckled. It was weird to think that these two were my age, yet acted like twelve year olds while Cassidy was fourteen yet acted as if he was twenty six.

"I have dance with you" Eli said.

I coulsn't help how my eyes widened as I turned to him, "you're in dance?"

He gave me an ironic smile, "yep."

"Oh... cool" I tried smiling.

Alex frowned, "that's not fair, I don't have any classes with you!"

"Hey, me neither" Cassidy pointed out.

"Actually Alex, if you'd come to English lit. you would have seen that you do have a class with me. Sorry though Cassidy, I don't think there's any chance of us having a class together" I shrugged.

"Oh" Alex grinned sheepishly, "do I sit near you?"

"Kind of. Domonic, Chloe and I all sit together at one table but your table is beside ours" I gave him a small smile.
