To be honest, I almost fell asleep in Jack's room. I wish I could have. I constantly worry that she's going to have another awful nightmare and wake up crying and I woke be there to help. There was just something about her that had allowed her to worm my way into my heart. I didn't know if it was the way that she was so fragile and small, making me want to protect her, or the way that she was so tough and strong, filling me with pride every time I saw her take a stand for herself and others. I shouldn't like her. Technically we were rivals. I should hate her.... but I didn't.

When I woke up the next morning, I was alone. Obviously Alex had stayed true to his word and not stayed over. I almost wish he had though. I crawled out of bed and threw on a blue tank top and my jeans. I really needed to go shopping. After grabbing my backpack and crutches, I went down to the kitchen.
"Hey Jack" Chase greeted.
"How'd you sleep?" Zach questioned.
My eyes flickered to Alex and a smile crept onto my face, "actually, I slept pretty well."
Cassidy smiled brightly, "awesome."
Darren walked into the kitchen and waved at everyone,
"What's for breakfast?"
"Mm, good question" I sighed.
"Dunno, it's Zeke's turn to cook" Alex shrugged.
Darren nodded and then turned to me, "well in the meantime..."
Walking up to me, he pulled the bottom of my shirt up to reveal my bandages, "let me check this out."
Chase let out a chuckle, "someone's being very forward."
Darren blushed a dark red and gave Chase a look, "I meant check her bandages! It looks like we'll probably be able to take out your stitches after school. You'll have to stay on your crutches for a bit longer but soon enough you should be good as new."
"Great" I grinned brightly.
"Now would you stop groping her?" Alex grimaced.
I rolled my eyes at him while Darren blushed again and pulled my shirt back down, "sorry Jack."
I gave him a sympathetic smile, "no problem Darren."
Eli came in at that moment, growling, "Zeke isn't making breakfast this morning; he had to go out early. we'd better all eat and then we can head out."
"What about Wes?" I questioned.
Eli shhok his head, "went with Zeke."
I nodded, "I can make breakfast if you guys want."
Alex slung his backpack over his shoulder, "or we could just pick something up along the way."
I smiled, "works for me."
All the guys nodded in agreement so soon enough, Cassidy, Chase, Zach, Eli, Alex, and I were all piled into the van. On the way to school, we stopped at Tim Hortons and picked up some breakfast. I got a chocolate chip muffin and a French Vanilla. Pure bliss.
"So" Alex started as we walked to the school after parking, "what's our first period teacher like?"
I frowned, "have you never had him before? He seemed to know you."
