I guess I had to have seen this coming. It makes sense that sooner or later, she'd start to realize that she really didn't know a lot about us and honestly, we didn't know a lot about her, but I guess since we kind of needed each other at the moment, our best option then was to get to know each other better. To be honest, I was kind of excited as I pulled up in front of Tim Horton's; I was going to get the chance to get to know her better.

Alex pulled into a parking spot and I looked up at the building before me.
"Yes!" I cheered.
Alex raised an eyebrow, "a fan of Tim Hortons are we? It's really not that special..."
I narrowed my eyes at him, "it is the home of my beautiful love in life, the French Vanilla... it is special."
Alex shook his head at me before pulling me inside. There was no line so he just went straight to the front and ordered a medium French Vanilla and a medium black coffee. After getting our drinks, we got a table and sat down.
"Alright, me first" I grinned, "what's your favourite colour?"
He gave me a look before letting a small smile creep across his face, "the colour the leaves turn in fall. Now, my turn. What is your biggest fear?"
"Losing the people I care about" I answered immediately.
He nodded, "me too."
We stayed silent for a moment.
"Alright" I started, "I've got one. Why did Wes go to jail?"
Alex gave me a smirk, "I knew you were going to ask that. He got arrested for shoplifting. It was during a rough patch when we were low on money. Wes was stealing some stuff like shirts, food and pyjamas for us when he got caught. He had the Jury's sympathy though so they went easy on him in the sentencing."
The corners of my mouth turned down, "that's so sad."
He shrugged, "I guess it's kind of just part of the life style. Now, my turn. What was your mom like?"
I smiled, "she was... happy. I remember her always smiling. She could find the good in everything and she found wonder in even the smallest things. She was very level headed and so smart. She always had that answer, but would never just give it to you. No, she'd make you work it out yourself. I loved her so much. I miss her. What about you? What were your parents like?"
Alex licked his lips and leaned forward, a distant look clouding his eyes, "well... my dad was... strict. He used to tell my brothers and me that we needed to be tough. He would yell at us if we ever messed anything up and I don't remember him ever once telling me he loved me. I worshipped the ground that he walked on though. I wanted to be exactly like him. He had the respect of all of my brothers, especially Zeke, and I wanted that. He was incredible. My mom was the exact opposite of my dad, and yet just like him. She was quiet and thoughtful. She was constantly telling us how much she loved us, but we knew better than to cross her. She was never the type to use violence or anything like that, but if we misbehaved, she wouldn't hesitate to take away privileges. I once lost t.v. privileges for a month for knocking Cassidy's tooth out. I didn't see the big deal though; it was already loose and he kept complaining about how he just wanted to lose it already... My parents never hid the fact that they were part of a gang with all of my aunts and uncles though."
I tilted my head to the side, "Alex, what ever happened to all of them? Your parents? Your aunts and uncles? Why do you and the rest of the guys all live alone?"
Alex didn't even bring up the fact that it technically wasn't my turn to ask a question.
Instead, he pressed his mouth into a hard line, "it happened in summer. At this point, we were still living in New York, so Los Demonios were being rivaled by some pretty big and scary gangs. Our parents were fighting with one of the worst gangs around: The Hell Saints. My parents were tipped off that The Hell Saints were planning an attack but by then it was too late. The Hell Saints almost completely wiped out our parents. My dad was the only one who survived, but he had a bullet in his chest. He ended up in the hospital only to die there three days later. His last words were to tell Zeke to take over Los Demonios and Darren to take care of all of us."
I frowned, "so, you've basically never had a childhood because you've always been in a gang."
"Hey, I think it's my turn to ask the question" he pointed out.
"Yes" I agreed, "but that wasn't a question, it was a statement."
"Fair enough" Alex nodded, "alright... the tell me about your childhood. What fun, kid-like things did I miss out on?"
I laughed, "oh... well... I think that one of the best parts about being a kid is the freedom and wonder that comes with it. Everything is so much more exciting and awe-inspiring when you're young because there is still so much you don't know and you want to just learn as much as you possibly can. As people get older, I think they start to lose that because they start to believe that they know all they need to know. Also, when you're younger, you only spend half your time in the real world, and the other half in your imagination. I remember I used to play imagination games all the time. I would pretend that all of my stuffed animals were one big family and I would imagine them travelling to different worlds. I also, used to have a specific spot on my bed for each one, but my favourite was scruffy, so he got to sleep on my pillow."
Alex raised an eyebrow, "scruffy?"
I blushed, "he was a stuffed dog that made at Build-A-Bear."
Alex furrowed his eyebrows, "what's.... Build-A-Bear?"
My jaw almost dropped to the floor as I stared at him, "you're kidding, right?"
"Well... no..." Alex mumbled awkwardly.
I jumped up and grabbed his hand, "alright, come on, we've got to go."
He stood up, taking his coffee with him as I dragged him out of Timmies, "uh, where to?"
"Across the street to the mall!" I exclaimed, heading to the van.
Both of us climbed into the van and Alex pulled out and started towards the mall.
"That gleam in your eyes is starting to scare me..." he trailed off as he made a right turn.
I rolled my eyes at him, "I'm just excited."
"And that doesn't make me feel any better" Alex muttered, pulling into the mall parking lot.
As soon as the van stopped, I jumped out.
"Come on slowpoke!" I called over my shoulder, racing towards the mall.
Alec followed me inside and I headed down the hall, knowing exactly where I was going. Once I found what I was looking for, I stopped in front of it and turned to grin at Alex.
"No way" he said.
"Come on! Please?" I begged, "you can't go your whole life having never 'built-a-bear'!"
Alex sighed, "Jack, the place is for little kids!"
I rolled my eyes at him, "you're never too old. Now lets go! You don't have to actually build one, cause I don't have any money, but we're still going in."
Alex thought for a moment, "how about this? We'll go in and both build bears and I'll pay, but tomorrow, you have to do what I want to do after school."
I grinned, "deal. Now let's build some bears!"
