I went back into my room to change. My clothes weren't the most desirable but it reminded me of home. I chucked on and old grey jumper with some shorts. At least I look somewhat decent. Before I went outside to join Billy, I quickly braided my hair.

I found Billy sitting on the porch step, playing with a plaster on his leg.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you. You could infect your cut".
I sat down beside him.
I felt so at ease. So.....normal.
I closed my eyes and my emotions surrendered into the Suns warmth.

I heard someone pull up into the driveway.
"Kaziah. Gilbert's here".
My eyes snapped open.
A man with long brown hair walked up to the gate. He looked a bit scruffy but he seemed genuine.
Billy ran to the gate and let him in.
"Hey Kiddo. Where's your mom?"
"She's inside. I'll go get her."

Just as I was about to go inside, I heard something smash behind me.
I turned around to see Gilbert had dropped one of his grocery bags.
I walked up to him, facing the ground the whole time because of the Suns harsh glare.

"Ah... Do you need some help?".
He looked at me a little surprised.
"You are?"
"Shoot! Sorry, I'm Kaziah. I'm Betty's niece. I just arrived from Nebraska yesterday". I grabbed the bag from the ground and walked inside into the kitchen where I found my Aunty.
"I see you've met our delivery boy, Gilbert".
"Yeah, he dropped a bag so I went over and helped him out".
She was acting a little strange. Her mood seemed to have changed as though she was nervous or something.
I dumped the shopping bag onto the kitchen counter and disappeared down the hall way into the barthroom.

I returned only to find my Aunty passionately kissing Gilbert. I stood there wide-eyed and shocked. Her hands were running up down his neck as though she possessed every inch of his body.
It was disgusting to watch. It made me gag, literally. I decided it was best to just quietly go back into my room and pretend like I didn't see anything.

Just as I turned around I smacked my head against the wall and fell, taking two dining room chairs down with me.
So much for the quiet exit Kaziah.

Their heads immediately turned towards me.
Shoot! Act cool Kaziah, act cool.
"Ah...Kaziah? Sweetie are you alright".
My Aunty looked at me nervously. She no longer had her grip around Gilbert's neck.
I laughed sheepishly "Y-yeah I'm fine. Just a little clumsy that's all".
I looked up and saw Gilbert looking straight at me. I didn't notice earlier but his eyes where a dark hazel colour. Bewitching almost.

I cowered my gaze to the ground and walked out the front door hoping that they didn't realise that I witnessed the whole thing.
