The Blue Papers

After what seemed like an eternity, we finally pulled away from each other. The doctor (who I forgot was still in the room) awkwardly cleared his throat as if the soft tension between Gilbert and I was too much to handle.

"Are we alright now? It's probably best that we wait until the mother is conscious before we make any final decisions"

Gilbert sighed softly before getting up and leaving the room. I closed my eyes and gently rested my head against the wall. Letting the sound of the clock block out my thoughts.

"Excuse me Miss?"

I ignored his request.

"Are you a blood relative to this mother?"

I instantly snapped my head towards the doctor.

"Yes and why would that be of any importance? Are you going to sue me or something?"

He chuckled lightly before getting up and walking over to a large metal cabinet.

I waited patiently as he rummaged through a mixture of documents before finally becoming satisfied with a bundle of blue papers.

I took them and stared at them confused.

"Look man, I'm only a teen...I don't really know what all this stuff means"

He retook his seat before shifting the wheels towards me.

"As long as you're a blood relative, you have the power to choose her fate... as long as she is in favour"

I stared at the blue papers wondering why a beautiful colour was tied down by something so awful.
