My Mom's car pulled up into this little drive way which didn't look too bad until I saw it cluttered with toys. I turned my head to my mom obviously pissed off.

"Mom you didn't tell me that she had kids. You know I'm not a people's person let alone baby sitter material"

My mom sighed tiredly " Kaziah just t-try to behave yourself. It's harder for me to confront my sister after what she did then have you worrying about her kids".

I turned around and lightly kissed her forehead.
"Mom your going to be fine. Just smile and ask more of your awkward questions about the weather".

She smiled faintly then finally built the courage to hop out of the car after sitting in the drive way for almost 5 minutes. I grabbed my bag and sneakers and slowly followed my Mom to the door.

She looked at me one last time before pushing the buzzer.

A lady with a fair complexion and perfect teeth answered the door. Her black hair prominent against her fair skin. She wore a pastel knee length dress with a floral apron on top. I would have never thought that my mother and the lady who answered the door where sisters. My Aunty was fresh and almost supple looking where my Mom looked tired and run down. They were only 2 years apart from each other but from what I could see my mom looked at least 15 years older.

We stood their for a good minute staring at each other.

I was expecting to be bombarded with greeting formalities but instead I only witnessed my Aunty embrace my Mom in tight hug. My Mom was reluctant at first but slowly surrendered into her sisters embrace.

As soon they finished hugging, my mom looked into her sisters eyes and whispered the words "Thank You" before quickly kissing my cheek and pushing a 50 dollar note into my hand. She quickly walked down the drive way into her car before taking off around the corner.

My Aunty turned around and was almost startled by my appearance. I guess she forgot I was there.
"Sweetie feel free to come inside. I'll show you to your room".
I looked at her and smiled.
"Is it okay if I stay out here for a bit".
She nodded her head and motioned for me to sit on one the many hammocks suspended from the porches ceiling.
"Just be careful of the blue hammock. I have a feeling Ralph filled it with sand".
"Okay" was all I said and with that she went back inside.
