Harry's POV

As we walk towards the kids, I look down at Beth and see her frowning as she bites her bottom lip.

That's never a good sign.

Cate said some pretty harsh things to her though Beth more than held her own with her.

I squeeze her hand to hopefully give her some reassurance that everything's okay, especially with us.

Or maybe I'm trying to reassure myself?

"Beth, love, don't let her get to you please," I tell her.

"She's taking pictures of us," she sighs heavily, "you know she's going to post them."

Where was the sassy and confident Beth that didn't seem to give a shit ten minutes ago?

"You seemed to handle the negativity today," I gently remind me.

"Yeah, I guess, but it's more that," she says, "I just don't trust her Harry, I think she'll do something...more," Beth gestures with her free hand.

Now I see the reason for her unease.

"Do you want me to let you go?" I ask her as I hold our joined hands out, "whatever you decide I'll go with."

Whatever makes her feel comfortable here.

I wait for her to answer as I can see she's deep in thought.

I'm still waiting.

"Beth?" I nudge her with my hip as we walk.

"No," she says as she smiles up at me, "no I don't."

God I love her smile.

We reach the bridge, where the kids are waiting impatiently for us, that will take us over to where the surprise is. Well, Jamie and Chloe are the impatient ones, Nick is just casually leaning on the railing as he waits.

Chloe has her arms folded and huffs when we get there.

My PA is not happy.

"Can we go over now?" Jamie asks, pointing at it.

"Absolutely," I smile at him, "that's where our surprise is."

"Ooh!" Chloe claps her hands together and squeals, the frown leaving her face as it instantly brightens.

Jamie and Chloe scramble up onto the bridge, Nick walking behind them while Beth and I bring up the rear. They stop when they reach the middle to hang over the railing and look over, marvelling at the boats on the water.

"Harry!" Jamie calls out to me, "can we go on one of those?"

"Yes mate," I smile at his enthusiasm, "how about on the way back?"

Beth is staring out at the view and although I hate to interrupt her, we really should push on. I reach out and gently touch her back and she snaps out of her daydream.

"Ready to keep going?" I ask.

"Sorry, yes," she replies, blushing slightly, "it's just lovely here."

"I know," I reply.

Though there are much lovelier things here.

And she's standing right in front of me.

I smile at her as I grab her hand and lead her off the bridge.

I can't wait to show her the surprise and I feel both excited but and nervous at the same time.
