Beth's POV
I walk down the stairs and I'm immediately stopped by Nick as I reach the bottom.
"Mum?" he questions, but stops when he sees Harry at the top.
"It's fine darling," I whisper as I squeeze his arm in reassurance.
He nods slowly as I walk over to the lounge where Jamie and Chloe are.
"Harry thought we might like to go out for a picnic today?" I ask them, "would you like to go?"
Jamie and Chloe are quick to show their enthusiasm at the idea.
"We're going out with Harry?" Chloe asks.
"Yes, does that sound okay?" I say.
"Mum," she sighs, "we're going out with Harry, of course it is," she rolls her eyes as if it's the most obvious thing.
"I'm going to go and get dressed," she says and flounces over to the stairs.
Harry is standing at the bottom of the staircase, his hands tucked into his jeans pockets, looking slightly awkward.
He moves aside and smiles at Chloe as she bounds up them.
I look back at Jamie.
"Harry thought you might like to take your new soccer ball and he'll teach you how to play...if you like?" I explain.
Jamie's eyes light up with excitement.
"Really? Harry's going to teach me?" he asks.
I nod in agreement.
He walks over to where Harry is standing.
"Are you...you're going to teach me?" he asks Harry.
"Of course," Harry smiles down at him, "if you'd like me to."
Jamie turns around to me and gives me the biggest grin.
"Wait," he says, his smile disappearing and a concerned expression now on his face, "a picnic means food doesn't it?"
"Yes Jamie, it does," I reply.
"We'll stop and pick up whatever you guys want," Harry says and yet again, at the mention of food, Jamie is all smiles again.
"Awesome!" he says and heads upstairs to get ready.
"Actually, I should go home and shower and change myself," Harry says, "I'll be back in about an hour, how does that suit?"
"Sure, sounds like a plan," I reply, "you need to get ready too I'm sure," I say, looking at Nick.
He simply looks between Harry and I, his face not giving anything away.
"Have you said sorry to my mum?" he asks Harry.
"Nick..." I warn him.
"It's okay," Harry says, "absolutely, I apologised repeatedly to your mum last night," he begins, "we talked a lot too so hopefully they'll be no more episodes like that again."
"Hopefully?" Nick says.
"Mate, I'm not perfect," Harry says, "neither is your mum and sometimes we'll make mistakes, but we'll learn from them and all I can promise you is that I'll try my best to make your mum happy."
Okay.
I'm not crying.
"Good," Nick says before he walks past Harry and goes upstairs.
