Harry's POV
Well I can't help but give Beth a smug look as I watch Chloe polish off a full bowl of the dinner that I cooked.
She'd pre-warned me that Chloe was a bit of a fussy eater and not to be put off if she took one bite and declared it was awful.
Apparently it was a common occurrence back home.
Beth has said before she's not the best cook.
That may be the issue.
Beth simply rolls her eyes at me before leaning over and whispering to me.
"You," she pokes me in the arm, "could put a baked shoe in front of her and she'd probably eat it."
I look down at my lap and smile to myself.
It's silly I guess but she ate what I cooked.
Something that I made.
The kids offer to take our dirty dishes and stack them in the dishwasher and the look on Beth's face is priceless as she watches them.
Like she's watching a foreign film with no subtitles and can't understand it.
Her little nose is screwed up and it's so cute.
They quickly finish and all of a sudden, Jamie is at my side, a huge grin plastered on his face.
"Harry," he says.
"Yes Jamie," I reply, reciprocating his infectious smile.
"Will you play some Fifa with us?" he asks.
Oh this is going to be too easy.
"Well..." I put a serious look on my face and pretend to think it over.
"Please Harry," Jamie pleads, "I'll even let you win a few games."
You what?
This kid's gonna let me win?
Does he even know how many hours I've put into this game?
"What?" I look at Jamie.
"Yeah," he nods enthusiastically, "I don't mind."
Shit he really is serious about letting me win.
I give Beth a glance and she is just sitting there with a smirk on her face.
No help there.
"Prepare to get your butt whooped," I say to Jamie as I stand up and start to follow him and the other kids into the lounge.
I suddenly stop as I realise I've left Beth sitting at the table but I feel her crash into me from behind.
"Oh! Sorry love," I say as I turn around and give her a hug, not hearing her walk behind us, "you don't mind do you?" I ask.
"Why would I mind?" she asks, "they're happy you're paying attention to them."
She kind of has this wistful look on her face, like she's thinking about something.
"It's ready Harry!" Jamie calls out from the lounge area, breaking Beth out of her reverie.
"Go!" she playfully pushes me ahead of her before following me and walking over to the couch and curling up on it, throwing a blanket over herself.
She looks so cute and snugglefull right now.
Snugglefull.
Is that even a word Harold?
