Lindy started to feel very weird all the sudden, like perhaps this was a trick. Like perhaps a bad guy or a kidnapper had decided to use an old phone to lure her somewhere. She decided to be very careful too. She was in the mood to be very careful.

"Tell us exactly how you did that," the voices said.

"Played the video? I told you, I got my iPad out and--"

There was some squeals of excitement. Some very loud talking and Lindy got to thinking that maybe there were at least twenty people on the other end.

"Play Hearts are Horses!" one voice shouted. "Love Train!" another called out. Suddenly, the phone erupted in frenzied shouts, requesting videos and songs and movies, most of which Lindy had never heard of. She moved the receiver from her ear. Finally, the shouting died down.

"Next question, Lindy. What year is it?"

"2016."

More excitement. "Lindy, this is a very big deal. We need you to prove you are in 2016. We need you to prove you have the Internet. Can you do that?"

"Is this some sort of kidnapper?" Lindy asked. Her parents would be back any minuet and if her mom saw her playing or talking on the phone instead of doing her homework, she would get in serious trouble again. She wasn't in the mood to be in trouble. But she most especially wasn't in the mood to be kidnapped. She just wanted to finish up her homework really quick and then get on to watching TV.

After everyone on the other line chatted awhile, they said. "Read the front page story on CNN.com."

Lindy did not want to do that. That sounded as boring as homework. "What will you give me if I do it?" she asked.

There was a murmur. "We will tell you a story about ourselves."

"That's boring," Lindy said.

"It's about you too. And its a true story. A story about the future!"
