"We have one last thing to say, and its of upmost importance," said the general. "The fate of the world depends on you."

Lindy didn't know what the word "upmost" meant but there was a dangerous sound to his voice. She was surprisingly in the mood for it. "The entire world?" she asked.

"The entire world!!"

"Even China? Its pretty far away."

"Especially China! They are going to eventually go back to the Ming Dynasty. I mean, Lindy!"

"What's a Dynasty?"

"Look," said the general. "According to the calculations of the most brilliant minds of the future past, the future past is going to start in no less than one hour! Do you know what this means?"

"No."

There was an exasperated sigh of impatience. "You have the power to stop it!"

"Alright."

"We are serious!"

"Alright."

Another sigh. "We hope YOU are serious!"

"Okay."

"This is why this phone call is monumental! This is why it is absolutely amazing! Here you are, right before the eve of future past and you can do something to stop it!"

"Well, the problem is, I have to go to bed in a half hour," said Lindy.

"You can not go to bed! This is overwhelmingly important. You may be our last and only link to the actual present. The entire world knows about this phone call! It's on every news station and soon to be in every newspaper. The president wants to speak with you, but there isn't time. Listen very carefully. Futurepast is going to start in only an hour. Now there has been theories about it starting due to an experiment done by a mega-conglomerate corporation in the—"

The phone cut off. Lindy looked up. Her mother stood above her,  angry.

But Lindy wasn't in the mood to be angry or to fight. She was almost a little interested in what the general had to say.

"I told you to get going on your chores!"

"But I was about to save the world!" Lindy moaned.
