I was the last one up, the sun hitting me directly in the eyes as the sky went from a purple-ish from when I went to sleep, to a now water-colour looking sunrise. A mix of oranges, pinks, yellows, and blues collided and created a beautiful scene. But I looked down and noticed something way more beautiful than that. Lucy, her head propped up against my legs with her headphones on, and her face stern as she tapped away at her phone. I grinned and poked her shoulder, leaning down to her ears and unplugged the headphone, but she didn't move. "What'cha listening to?" I asked slyly. She jolted a bit and smiled, turning to face me before pecking my lips.
"Twenty One Pilots," she responded quickly before turning around. I noticed her long blonde hair was neatly brushed through and pulled into a ponytail.
"What song?" I asked, immediately interested.
"Car Radio," she murmured, leaning up to check on Erza and Levy. She turned and leaned by Gajeel, "Wanna switch drivers soon?" She asked. Gajeel turned his face a bit, and nodded.
"Yeah, how about the guys in the back, but girls up front?"
"Fine," Lucy huffed with a grin, Levy was awake now and she smirked, knowing what Lucy was going to do. I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at my girlfriend. If I can technically call her that... Her face was turned towards Levy. "But of course, girls have choice of music."
"Do whatever, your music choice is pretty much the best out of everyone else in the car." Jellal glared at Gajeel with the most hurt expression.
"Excuse me?!?" He fumbled. "Last time I checked, Halsey and Twenty One Pilots wasn't the best."
"You're right," Lucy said with a grin before flopping against the seat. "M83, Troye Sivan, Halsey, The 1975, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, and Twenty One Pilots, were, and are the best!" Jellal turned and looked at Lucy kind of stunned.
"Yeah, alright, girls can choose." Lucy smirked and put her headphones back in.
"That's what I thought." I swear to goodness, I snorted before the girls and Gajeel chuckled. "Alright, let's switch, you've been up all night, Gajeel." He nodded and pulled over, signalling the other car which consisted of Miraxus, Loke, and Gruvia that they should switch too. Lucy went up front and sat in front of me and smiled in the mirror at me before plugging in her phone and blaring her music through the speakers. I knew what she was doing: using music to distract her from the events that are occuring. She does that a lot now, emerging herself into her music, drowning out the rest of the world as she sits there, wondering what she did wrong. But I'm proud of her. She's driving, she's smiling. God, she's my ray of sunshine!! I can't let her die out! I leaned back, and tried to listen for a pattern in the music. The playlist was interesting. Car Radio, Colours, Make A Move, Fireflies, Two Birds, YOUTH, Crazy=Genius, 2022 (Phan song), and Runaway (U & I).
So basically, Twenty Øne Piløts, Halsey, Icon For Hire, Owl City, Regina Spektor, Troye Sivan, Panic! At The Disco, two girls I haven't quite caught the names of, and Galantis. The car ride was full of energy and it was almost hypnotic. It almost felt like a road trip during summer or spring break. Instead of us just running from people trying to capture Luce.It was noon and we were running low on food and we pulled over at a store on the way. We all went in together, and we changed our car arrangements. Miraxus and Jerza are switching cars. We bought Cliff Bars, cookies, muffins for Luce, Pocky, and some other travel foods. All of us needed something cold, so we all bought ice cream for ourselves. We checked out, and headed back to the car. All at once we grabbed spoons that Levy brought and started munching on the ice cream before it melted.
"One more day on the road and we'll be at the cottage," Levy announced and we all cheered.
"Thank goodness!" Mira sighed, hugging Lucy. "We're going to be alright." Lucy nodded uncomfortably. We got in the car and Lucy was blaring her music as soon as we got on the road.
Her playlist this time continued, featuring more of Galantis, Halsey, Troye Sivan, Panic! At The Disco, and Twenty Øne Piløts. Her voice accompanied most of the songs. Even the raps in TØP's songs. I watched her and I couldn't breathe. Lucy took my breath away, her tinted aviators kept her golden hair out of her pale face, her chocolate brown eyes brightly.
God, how did I get so lucky?
