Hey guys! I'm entering a contest held by Target called Once Upon Now. We basically have to create a story (4,000-9,000 words long) that's based off a fairytale(such as Little Red Riding Hood, or Sleeping Beauty) but set in modern times. For example, you could basically recreate Little Red Riding Hood in New York.
My Story is called The Awakening of the Dragon Queen.
As you can probably tell, it has to do with Dragons. I'm incorporating aspects of Sleeping Beauty into mine, since the story has to allude to some sort of fairytale.
THIS IS THE BLURB:
Melancholy is an average girl. At least, that's what she was. But then she found something that the whole world's been on a desperate search for-the world's last dragon egg. But when she finds it, what happened wasn't what the stories had said. What they said about the egg was all wrong.
That's it! That's my book for the contest pretty much. I have to have the completed story done by June 12, 2016 by 7:59 GMT time, and voting starts two days after that on June 14 and ends June 21. The top 25 stories are picked, and then judges narrow them down to 10 stories. Those ten stories will be published in a book available in Target and other places all combined into one book. The winners will also receive proportional royalties from the book, and $500.
During the Voting phase(June 14-21) individuals who are 13 or older and who have a wattpad account will be invited to vote online for their favorite story made available on the contest website. Only the votes on the books first chapter will be counted. Each voter however, may only enter one vote for each of their favorite stories, so this book needs lots of readers!
