Chapter 3
The Elevator and the City
Marlene
I had finally arrived in Loch Ness City. It was spectacular, more impressive than anything else I had ever seen. It was also great to see Sparrow again.
Around dusk, I landed on the shores of Loch Ness. I flew down towards the water and dove into the deep blue lake. I swam down, reaching deeper and deeper towards the elevator.
You see, to get to Loch Ness City, you need to take an elevator. Loch Ness City is at the bottom of the lake. If I hadn't taken the elevator, I probably would have suffocated.
Just as I was running out of breath, I saw the elevator. Sparrow was swimming near it. She looked a bit different, since her Fangpyre tattoos had been removed and her front legs were more muscular thanks to all the swimming she had been doing.
Sparrow pointed to the elevator and I swam with her to it. The doors opened up for us and glided to it. I exhaled, realizing there was an air pocket inside the elevator.
"Hello, Operator," Sparrow said.
To my surprise, an electronic voice said, "Hello. Are you Miss Sparrow Kingsley?"
"Yes, Operator. And my friend is Marlene of Petersville, USA. She does not belong to a tribe."
"Welcome Marlene and Sparrow. What is your destination?"
"338 Pearl Way, Loch Ness City."
"Would you like to see a brief video featuring Loch Ness City tourist attractions?"
"No, thanks," said Sparrow. She looked at me. "Right Marlene? I mean, we're going to see all this stuff when we get there."
"Yeah," I said.
The elevator continued its descent. We suddenly stopped in front of Sparrow's house. I noticed that there was now a giant bubble over me. I could breathe here, even though what I was feeling under me was the sand of the ocean floor. Sparrow's house was a nice one. It was made of some fake brick thing that worked underwater, with a pretty gray roof. There were lots of fancy windows. There was also a flourishing garden full of aquatic plants. I wished I could own a house like that, instead of my simple cave.
Sparrow and I decided to go see some monuments. Statues of famous Aquidraki seemed to be everywhere in Loch Ness City. We toured the gorgeous Loch Ness City Gardens. I got to see Compass Enterprises, which was where Sparrow worked. Finally, we returned to Sparrow's house and played a cool virtual reality game where we murdered killer zombies!
All in all, I was really enjoying Loch Ness City. Maybe I'll try to get into Aquidraki, I thought. No, that couldn't happen. But I was still having fun!
