"Okay... so my father was an elf named Seere Selu, but my mother didn't know that he was. It was forbidden for him to be with my mother yet he get her pregnant and then decided to come to you to help hide him" I say mainly just to recap everything I was just told. Evangeline nods her head. I sigh "Why didn't he tell me?" I ask. Evangeline turns to her books and starts flipping through a few "He wanted to keep you safe. He didn't want anything to happen to you or your mother. He knew that if anyone from the shadow world found out his true identity, they would tell the elfish court and he, including you and your mother would be put to death" Understandable. "Here it is" Evangeline says, handing me yet another large book with writings like notes in it. "What is this?" I ask. Evangeline points to one paragraph.
I, Seere Selu, ask the powerful witch, Evangaline Fair- Child, to hide me, my lover, and my unborn child from the shadow world until the day I die. In return, I give Evangeline Fair- Child the power of my tourmaline. When the day that my unborn child finds you by fate, I wish for you to tell them everything. And tell them their true name. Ruin Pilin'. I had a vision of a red, flaming arrow the moment my love told me about our child. Our child will be powerful and have fire in their soul, for the gods have told me so.
I finish reading what is written. "Ruin Pilin'. That's my name?" I ask confused. "That is the name he wanted you to have. Ruin meaning red flame and Pilin' meaning arrow. That is the elvish name he wanted for you but could never give you if your identity were to be hidden" Evangeline explains. I nod my head "So should I refer to myself as Ruin Pilin' now?" I ask. "Is that what you want?" Christopher asks me, I look down at the name again and smile at the thought of accepting the one thing my father couldn't give me yet always wanted to. I nod my head and try to say something but I get interrupted by the growling of my stomach. Evangeline laughs under her breath "I guess we can all go to the diner and get some snacks or something" She says as she starts waving us out of the room. Christopher doesn't hesitate to get to the food while Evermore and I walk upstairs.
"Oh my gosh this is so amazing" I say with a mouthful of food. Christopher, who is sitting across from me in the booth, and Evermore who is sitting beside me, laugh. "Well Ruin Pilin, I'm glad you like it so much" Evangeline says with a smile. I set my burger down and go silent. I guess Christopher noticed my change in mood. "What's wrong?" I look up at him "I don't know... I guess. So much has happened recently and it's so crazy. I don't know if I want everything to go back to normal or if I want to just continue with all the craziness that's happening around me" I say sadly. Evangeline walks over to me and sets her hand on my shoulder "Everything will be okay. You will figure everything out and peace will come" I look up at her with a smile and Christopher stands up abruptly. "Thank y-" I'm interrupted by a loud crash behind me. Everyone ducks, standing up after several moments of silence. A window had been broken into hundreds of pieces. Evangeline looks at the thing that broke the window; an arrow with a red flame. All of us look out the window. Jake stands a few hundred yards away from the diner but disappears seconds later. I look back at Evangeline who is standing there in shock. "Looks like we aren't the only ones who know who you really are" Evermore says as she looks at the arrow, the flame slowly dying out.
