Chapter 7 (edited May 2021)

"Luke, get your ass down here! Ashton said he wants us to get there early," Calum yelled as he fixed the straps on his sandals. Luke came running down the stairs, trying not to trip on his untied shoelaces.

"I'm coming, I'm coming. Don't get your discount panties in a twist," Luke teased, pinching Calum's bum before bending down to tie his shoe. Calum rolled his eyes, smacking the blonde's head as he stood back up.

"Honey, my panties are not discount, they are from Victoria Secret and they cost 30 dollars with a little backpack included," Calum said,  pretending to flip his hair as he walked outside. Luke rolled his eyes as he stood up and followed Calum, locking the front door behind him. Calum sat himself in the driver's seat, he never trusted Luke to drive, not that the blonde was a bad driver, he just got distracted easily and he was much better with the AUX cord than Calum was.

Luke got into the passenger seat and handed Calum the keys, fiddling with the radio as Calum started driving.

"Ashton said we could just park in his and Michael's driveway, can you just look out for 1289, please,"
Calum said. Luke hummed a response, staring out the window as Calum drove slowly around playing children and canopies. A few seconds later, Luke pointed out the house and Calum was pulling into the driveway, placing the car in park before shutting off the engine.

"If I even so much as look in Michael's direction, punch me. In the face. Very hard" Luke said, holding Calum's arm so the boy didn't try to get out of the car. Calum giggled, shaking his head at Luke.

"I'm not going to do that. Sorry Lukey," Calum shrugged before shaking off Luke's hand and getting out of the car. Luke groaned, following Calum out of the car. Calum walked up to the door and knocked lightly three times. Luke leaned against the railing of the porch, crossing his skinny arms over his chest as the door opened. Michael stood just inside with a too-wide smile on his face.

"Calum and Lucas, please, enter my home. Ashton is currently in the backyard cooking various meats. There are beverages in the fridge, please help yourself and Ashton is most definitely not paying me to act this nice and polite," Michael said in a chirpy tone that was completely unnatural. Calum giggled as Michael gestured for them to walk inside. Calum walked past the man and walked through the foyer and the kitchen until he was touching the wooden panels of the back porch. Calum walked up to the man dressed in black jeans and a white tee shirt and smiled.

"Hey handsome stranger," Calum greeted, walking up beside the grill where Ashton was grilling carne asada. Ashton looked over at Calum and smiled wide as he flipped the meat.

"Hello beautiful stranger," Ashton replied. Calum blushed.

He stood there for a few minutes, watching Ashton cook, talking about their days and the new case Ash was working on. Maybe ten minutes later, Calum watched as Ashton put the meat on a plate and covered it with tin foil. Ashton led Calum back inside and set the plate on the counter where loads of other foods were sitting.

"Wow, that's a lot of food," Calum pointed out, vaguely hearing Luke talking to Michael. Ashton chuckled, grabbing a beer out of the fridge.

"Yeah, everyone around the block comes out, and some people from around the entire neighborhood, so I cook a lot of food. They bring food too but I cook most of it. I like cooking," Ashton explained with a little shrug. His cheeks were flushed from the heat of the grill of the slight chill outside.
