Chapter 22 (edited May 2021)

Calum held his phone between his ear and his shoulder as he folded his clothes and placed them in neat piles on the bed. It had been two days since the lake, and two days since Calum promised Ashton that he would be back soon, and he was finally going to live up to his promise.

"Are you sure you don't want me to come and get you? I can leave right now," Ashton offered, his voice soft and somewhat needy. Calum smiled to himself as he placed another few pairs of clothes into his suitcase.

"No, it's fine. I just want to spend another day with Luke and I'll leave tonight," Calum assured, getting up from the bed to gather all of his shoes. He set them all on his bed and tucked them neatly into his suitcase.

"Okay. I just miss you and I really need to see your beautiful face again," Ashton said, the sound of a door shutting filling the background.

"I miss you too, Ash. I'll come by yours as soon as I get back into town. I just, I'm sorry for leaving," Calum whispered the last part, looking down as he fiddled with the hem of his skirt.

"Stop apologizing baby, I understand and I'm not mad anymore. Actually, I was never mad, I was worried that my boyfriend was hurt," Ashton said gently.

"I just want to be with you again. Is it bad that we've only been together for six months and we're already so attached?" Calum asked with a small giggle.

"It's not bad, It just means our relationship is growing stronger. I can feel it every single second that I'm not with you. It's been a month since I've held you, or kissed you, and I really need to do that before I lose my fucking mind. I like you a lot, Cal," Ashton spoke softly, making Calum blush as he finished packing, leaving out a sweatshirt and some shorts.

"I like you a lot too Ash. I've gotta go but I'll call you before I leave," Calum frowned.

"Alright baby. Be safe," Ashton replied.

"I will. Bye," Calum quietly said.

"Bye, baby," Calum sighed heavily as he hung up the phone and stuffed it into his pocket. He moved his suitcase beside his door on his way out of the room. He walked out to the living area where Luke was laying on top of Nathan, drawing invisible patterns on the mans bare chest as they watched cartoons.

"Morning boys," Calum smiled as he walked over to the small kitchen area. Luke smiled as he got off of Nathan, causing the older man to whine and reach for Luke. The blonde giggled and walked over to Calum, kissing Calum's cheek before going to the fridge.

"Morning Cal. How'd ya sleep?" Luke asked as he pulled a carton of orange juice out of the fridge. Nathan got off of the couch as Luke pulled a glass out of the cabinet.

"Pretty good. What'd you two do last night?" Calum asked, looking at Luke who was wearing nothing but Nathan's flannel and a pair of panties, then at Nathan who was wearing nothing but a pair of skinny jeans that he obviously slid on once he got up from the couch because they were still unbuttoned. The blonde blushed, pointing a finger at his best friend.

"That, my pretty friend, is none of your business," he leaned close to Calum and whispered, "but it was fantastic." Nathan chuckled, stealing Luke's orange juice and taking a sip before setting it back on the counter.
