War is over?

I stop the jet and take my belt off. The engines sputter, letting the cold inside the plane as it cools off again. I get up, and I'm slightly regretting not bringing my suit along. I feel naked, going out with my powers exposed.

I step out of the jet as the cold hits me immediately. The snow colors the whole surroundings bright white under the street lights.

I make my way to the small town on the foot of the mountain, hopefully finding someone who can bring me to the secret base. My phone rings in my pocket, and I don't hesitate to pick it up when I see the name and picture.

"Hey, Jacks." I smile, "Why you calling?"

"I went to your house this afternoon, because it's my last day in New York, and your mom said you were back in Berlin."

"Yeah.. I'm not even there anymore."

"Then where are you now?"

"Siberia. I'm helping the team..."

"Dee... Are you out of your mind? Why do you even put that much effort in a team that won't have your back?"

"How would you know that, huh? They're my friends, Jacks."

"Friends, my ass. They've brought nothing else than misery into your life."

"They've brought Sam permanently back into my life."

The line stays quiet for a while as I wade my way through the thick layer of snow.

"Look, Dee... I'm not sure that swapping your old team for this new one was a good idea.-"

I cut him off as I see an old woman walking down the main street, "Jacks. I've got to go. I'll talk to you later."

I hang up before Jacks could even try to protest. I run up to the woman and find my best Russian to converse with her.

"Do you know how to get to the top of the mountain?" I ask her, but she just scurries away.

Then I have to do it on my own...

I start walking through the snow, going uphill with my target in front of me. My hands are freezing in my pockets, but I don't give up.

I finally get to the top with the bunker in front of me. The door is open, and I want to go through it, but something else catches my attention. I head to the steep ridge where a man is sitting. He looks a lot like Bucky from the back, to be honest.

"Who are you?" I inquire, a cloud of warm air forming in the cold.

The man turns around, smirking wickedly before turning back to stare in open air.

"You are foolish to think you can change anything now, silly girl." He says with an accent as thick as the layer of snow.

I feel a hand on my shoulder before I could even reply to that statement. I snap to the owner of the hand.

"Your highness." I nod as I take in who it is.

He takes off his mask as I clear the way for him.

"I almost killed the wrong man." He starts his complaint.

"Hardly an innocent one." The man on the edge answers.

I step away from it all. I hear them talk behind me as I move to the bunker. The snow cracks underneath my feet and my hands yearn for something warmer than the air around me.

A shot sounds behind me and I quickly turn around. T'Challa holds the man and nods to me. You can say what you want, but I like that guy. He's got good intentions when it doesn't involve Bucky.

I wander inside, taking it all in. The premise definitely looks abandoned. I turn a right at the first intersection and it leads me to a complete new wing of the bunker.

I wander around, taking in the many dilapidated cellblocks I'm passing. My heartbeat resonates through the bunker. At least, that is what my mind makes of the situation.

I ready myself for any kind of attack, steadying some waves on my hands as I find my way to a humongous room.

The little light from outside shines through the yellowish large dome that is covered by snow. But there isn't more needed to make out the features of the room.

There are 6 cryogenic rooms, 3 lined up on each side of the room. I frown, as I don't see them waking up or anything. I go closer to one with a woman in it. They're misty, so I have to tiptoe to even look inside of it.

There's a reason why they don't wake up. A reason formed by a bullet hole between her eyes. I glance at the others, but they all have had the same fate for them.

Would it be totally cliche if there is a computer that is still playing footage? Yes, yes it would. And it's completely like that.

The computer a little bit further is still lighting up as I approach it. The video is on repeat when I start watching it.

There's a road, only lit by one street pole. It's calm until a car crashes against a tree. But it's not just a crash.-

I recognize that car. I've heard stories about it from my grandmother. I watch on, hoping it wouldn't be what I thought it would be. Except there it is, the evidence I hoped I wouldn't see. Bucky shoots at the camera, breaking the feed.

My hand shoots up to cover my mouth so no sound could escape. I could've known there was something so big like this between them. The only thing that is missing from the scene is Earth's mightiest heroes and Bucky.

Where the hell are they?
