Along the ride

5 months.

That's how long I've been hiding out with the others.

155 days to be exact. And that's 154 days too long.

They've been working on my nerves at every free moment they find. And I hate them for it. At least they're keeping us all safe.

I pull the covers over my bare chest as I turn to the man I love. He's the only one that has made my fugitive life somewhat bearable. His right arm sneaks securely around me as he smiles seductively. His eyes are still closed and I take the opportunity to push myself up and press my lips against his, a familiar territory for both of us.

"Good morning." I smile when I break away.

"Morning, doll." His raspy voice brings me on edge, "Did you sleep well?"

"Better every day with you next to me."

He plants a light kiss on my lips before getting up to shower. I close my eyes again as I wrap myself in the many blankets on our bed. A faint shimmer disturbs my closed eyes and I try to get that shimmer away, yet it doesn't go away at all.

"Bucky." I whine as I turn to face him standing with a big smile on his face, "This is the thirtieth time in a row that you're trying to blind me."

"Oh, I'm sorry, doll." He smirks, "I thought you might want to take a shower with me."

"And having Sam to walk in on us again? No, thank you."

He belts out his sweet laughter, "That was one time, Addy."

"I'd rather not risk it, Buck."

He comes back to the side of the bed and leans in to press his lips onto mine before going to the bathroom. I close my eyes again, falling into a light slumber, while I dream of a better world, a safer world.

I duck away from the metal arm swinging at me. I'm fighting against Sam with his wings and Bucky. Sam is shooting rubber bullets at me that I easily dodge and I kick up to Sam's wings, grounding him from now on, while I dodge Bucky's strong left.

"Why can't you guys get over the fact that I can beat you all in 10 minutes?" I laugh between punches.

I do my last combo, one I have perfected during my stay in Wakanda. I combine a 360 turning kick with some waves, knocking them out all at once.

"Told ya." I smirk as I walk back to the Barn.

"It's just not fair! You have real powers to use." Sam whines.

"You're just all big babies." I roll my eyes, "You just can't get over it, can you?"

"No." Sam swings his arm around my neck, "Because you're my little sister, Dee."

"Oh, Sammy Bear." I coo.

"Okay. You've gone too far now." He laughs as he lets me go.

A hand keeps me on the porch while the others are walking inside. Bucky's arms wrap around my waist and he easily hoist me up.

"Buck, what are you doing?" I laugh.

He gently places me on the porch bench as he sits down next to me, pulling me close by getting my legs over his and placing his arm around my waist.

He gently presses his lips onto mine, causing my body to drain from adrenaline and fill up with calmness. My hands finds its way to his hair as his hands travel onto the sweaty skin of the small of my back.

"I just wanted a moment alone with my girlfriend." He smiles, "I love you, Dee."

"I love you too, Buck."

I put my head on his chest, resting a little bit from the training. I close my eyes as I focus on his steady heartbeat. It's somehow soothing.

"Addy?" He whispers to my hair.

"Yup."

"Don't fall asleep, okay?"

"I would never." I grin.

"Should I remind you of the many, many times you took a nap the past five months?"

I look up at him, "Napping is very healthy."

"Napping is for babies and little children."

"Then that means that I'm a little child."

His smile widens as he stares into my eyes. He leans in and softly kisses me as if I'm a porcelain doll so easily broken.

"Have you ever thought about kids?" He asks out of the blue.

The question doesn't take me off guard though. It feels like that is the next step in our relationship.

"I have, actually." I answer as one hand rests on his chest and the other in the back of his neck, "But I can't. I was born sterile like most mutants, but sometimes we get lucky. My dad did."

"Don't you hate the idea of never being able to get little Addisons?"

"Oh, lord no." I laugh, "I'm hardly an adult."

Stumbles from inside the house pull us out of our conversation. I frown until Peter rushes outside and only spots us after almost stumbling down the stairs.

"And I have my hands full with that teenager." I grin to Bucky.

"I wanna fight you too!" Peter shouts, before using his inside voice, "Sorry... I didn't mean to shout. I still want to fight, Addy. Please."

"You do know that I can beat you under 30 seconds, right?" I giggle.

"She's fierce, Parker. I wouldn't even dare fighting her on my own." Bucky says before nuzzling in my neck.

"Are you sure you want to fight me, Spidey-boy?"

"Yes!"

"Okay then. Get ready."

He runs back inside to get ready as I turn to Bucky, his eyes tired from the nightmares and training. I place my hand on his cheek, causing him to look up at me.

"Why don't you go to bed, and catch up on some sleep?" I whisper as our foreheads touch.

"Only if you're there next to me." He whispers back.

"I'll come in a minute. Gotta fight the kid first."

He smiles as he leans in, connecting our lips oh so gently.

"I love you, Buck."

"And I love you, Dee."
