When school happens

There's nothing worse than to wake up in an empty room to the sound of your dull alarm, not knowing where they've jailed all your friends.

It's a rut to wake up, get dressed, go to school, and even sleep. I know it's only been a few days, but I've grown too fond of them. I miss the late night talks with Bucky. Mom doesn't even wake me anymore. It's like she knows I'm not feeling the best. Well, obviously she knows, she's my mom.

Putting my headphones on and letting the music seep through while I walk to school, is the only thing that makes me feel better on a Monday.

I stroll into the Prototype Engineering class where only a few people are already seated. I look at the chart on the front desk, as the professor likes to scramble us to meet fellow engineers. My name is written on a two-person desk in the back.

I'm rather surprised though. Not only has he put me in the back, which he's never done before, but the name next to mine struck my interest.

Peter Parker.

Maybe tracking (read: stalking) Tony Stark wasn't a waste of time after all. I go sit at the desk, grinning when I think how I'll handle this. My neighbor isn't here yet luckily, so I can take all the space I need. I scatter my course block and markers around and take my pencil to doodle a bit on my file.

"Is that seat taken?" A manly, but quirky voice asks, hoovering over me.

"If your name is Peter Parker, then it is now." I answer without looking up.

"I'm so lucky that that is exactly my name."

I look up and see the one and only Peter Parker plumping down in the seat next to me. The skin under his right eye is turning purple-ish blue, which makes me silently snicker under my breath.

"How did you get that black-eye?" I try to ask him with an unnoticeable smile, but it comes like a hiccup, "Sorry."

"Some guy punched me." He puffs his chest, "Why'd you ask? Do you think it's brave?"

"No, I think it's stupid. What did you do to take a hit like that?" I ask, but I can't contain my laughter, "Did you take someone's shield or something?"

I glance at him as the frown on his forehead increases. I can see him thinking and trying to link things together. I smirk as the professor walks in while Peter is still trying to put things together. I see his eyes grow wide every second passing since the things clicked.

"Nice suit though." I remark, "Good thing you used primary colors. Green and orange would've clashed so hard."

"H- How?" He stutters, but I shush him.

"Hush, little child... I'm trying to pay attention."

I divert my attention to the front, where the professor is explaining a new kind of way to wire a device. I write and color-code everything to make studying easier, until the professor dismisses us for the day. I put my stuff away in my leather bag and stand up, still ignoring my neighbor. It's funny how he tries to talk to me, but doesn't succeed.

I walk out the classroom while he follows me outside. He finally gets a hold of me on the blossoming courtyard.

"How do you know I'm him?" He inquires.

I roll my eyes as I pull him to a more secluded part of the campus. I sigh before I balance a small wave on my hand, making Peter gasp loudly. It disappears as quickly as it had appeared, and I glare at him.

"You're her! I can't believe it! All this time I've been taking a class with another superhe-" He exclaim before I muffle his mouth with my hand.

"As much as I appreciate the enthusiasm, I don't want my cover to be blown." I hush him, "So, are you going to be quiet?"

He nods as I remove my hand. He grins at me while I sit down on the small wall that connect's two buildings.

"Why did you come clean with me then?" He asks as I ruffle my hair.

"My friends are god knows where, and I'm desperate to find them."

"Did you think I know where they are?"

"You never know great Mr. Stark told you something valuable for once." I sarcastically snort, "But I'm obviously wrong. How stupid of me."

"You know, I read the Sokovia Accords. Just like one of your teammates suggested." He changes the subject, "I didn't know the world was that fucked up."

"So, you didn't sign them?"

"I didn't know they were the whole cause of the fight and stuff. I just wanted to fight with the greatest out there."

"Well, half of those greatest are either locked up somewhere unknown or vanished to save the world."

"What do you mean?"

"The man that posed as Bucky for the attack, is out there searching for a supersoldier team from the Soviet's. That's where Bucky and Steve are."

"A supersoldier team?"

"That's what I just said." I sigh, "That's it. I'm going back to Berlin. I might find some answers there."

"Are you sure you want to do that? What about school and stuff?"

"I haven't gotten disciplinary courses in 6 years." I frown, "Wait... How old are you?"

"I'm seventeen. Why?"

"Oh, that just explains a lot." I stand up, "Hey, you can take care of Harlem for me, right?"

"Yeah... Sure, I guess."

"Thanks then."

I walk away from the campus while taking my phone out. I dial my mom's number as I turn a corner towards the street.

"Hey, honey." Mom's voice sounds through.

"Hey, momma." I reply, "I'm going back to Berlin."

I hear her sigh, "Thought so. Be safe, Addison. Don't do anything stupid, okay?"

"Haven't I always?" I grin, "Don't answer that."

"I'll call around to prepare the privet jet for you. Return home safely. I love you."

"I love you too, momma."

I hang up before hauling a cab. It's time to find out what else I can do to help.
