With a frozen kiss

I wake up, my head still resting on Bucky's chest. It's all so surreal. I like him, and he likes me, but there's no way we can do this right now. I guess that's the real part of our fairytale.

"Good morning." I feel his breath against my hair.

I push myself up and look at him. He has that perfect smile plastered on his face as I return it with a small one of my own.

"Morning, Bucky." I reply before getting out of bed, "Big day today."

"Are you always this chirpy in the morning?" He laughs.

I'm glad nothing is awkward between us for now. I wouldn't know what to do after last night.

"Usually not. Definitely not after a late night outing." I grin at him as I take some clean clothes off the ground.

I glance at him as he's already staring back at me. I freeze, as desire radiates off him.

"I'm going to take a shower." I turn around to hide my blood-filling cheeks.

I close the bathroom door behind me as I close my eyes and take deep breaths.

"I'm going to grab some pancakes. You want some too?" I hear through the wood.

"Yeah. Pancakes are fine." I ramble, "Splendid."

I hear him leave the room as I turn the shower on. A nice cold shower will help the blood flow away from my cheeks.

I step out of it and dry my body with a white towel you usually find in a hotel.

Except this isn't a hotel, I think, This is a freaking palace.

I put my clothes on, preparing myself to face him again. But he's gone to wherever he finds pancakes. I leave the bedroom, entering the sun-filled living room of the royal headquarters. I sit down on the large couch in front of the windows. The sun hits my face, but I don't care. Some regenerating energy is much wanted right now.

"I finally found pancakes!" Bucky exclaims happily behind me as I turn around.

"Food!" I smile as I reach out to the plate he's holding on to with one hand.

He sits next to me while I gorge down the top one. He takes one too and we happily eat the pancakes together.

We silently walk through the building. The tension between us is as thick as mist you could just cut through. Our hands brush against each other, making my heart speed up. I deeply breath in and out, making sure I wouldn't freak out at all.

We stop right outside the lab. On the other side of this door, Bucky's future for the next months, or even years, is planned out. I put my hand on the door handle, ready to lead Bucky to his future, as he puts his hand over mine.

"Didn't you forget something?" He whispers and I look at him.

The spark that has always been there ignites a thickness around my heart as I'm getting nervous for what will come.

"Right..." I smile back at him while my eyes lock with his.

"You don't have to if you don't want to."

I let out a small laugh at his manners, something HYDRA didn't take away from him, as I put my right hand on his cheek. My heads tilts a bit to the left when he opens his mouth to say something. He quickly closes it again like he's forgotten what he was going to say. I smile while my gaze flicker to his lips.

I step forward, my left hand joins the mess I'm creating, making its way to the back of his head. I lean in, slightly pushing him closer to me as I close my eyes.

Our lips connect, and even the touch alone sends electricity through my body. I gently tug his hair while his right arm sneaks around my waist and pulls me close to him. He voluntarily deepens the kiss, taking full command as if it was a mission.

He leaps forward, causing me to depend on him until my back hits the glass. His hand travels up to my cheek, caressing it with his rough fingers, while my hands go to his hips, closing him into my arms.

His lips part from mine before they find their way to the nipping skin of my neck.

"Bucky..." I sigh.

"Tell me to stay and I'll stay." He groans to my skin before looking straight into my eyes, "I'll stay, Addison. If you tell me to stay, I'll do it."

I look away from his piercing blue eyes while whispering, "No... I can't do that. You know I can't do that."

"Yeah... Well, it was worth a try." He smiles, but it doesn't reach his eyes.

"Let's go. Before you change your mind." I say and grab his hand from my cheek.

I pull away from the window before I enter the lab. The cryo-tank is placed in the middle of the room, facing the enormous glass wall. I feel Bucky hesitate next to me, but still determined to go through with this. I give his hand a little squeeze.

On that moment, T'Challa appears from the other side with Steve on his heels. I quickly let go of Bucky's hand as I instantly feel the emptiness grow inside of me.

"They are ready for you." T'Challa speaks up while Bucky goes sitting on a table for a last checkup.

"You sure about this?" Steve rhetorically asks as I'm admiring the cryo-tank.

"I can't trust my own mind." Bucky lightly smiles, "So until they figure out how to get this stuff out of my head it think going back under is the best thing. For everybody."

I turn to face Bucky. The regret in his eyes can't be compared to the pain that radiates off of him. I know I'm the only one that can literally see that, but I wish deeply that Steve catches on.

Bucky stands up again, and I meet him in an embrace, tight enough that we could perhaps merge.

"Come find me when you wake up, okay?" I mask my breaking voice through whisper.

"I sure will, Addison." He whispers back as he tightens the embrace for a second before he lets me go.

He goes over to Steve and embraces him with an equal force. I wipe the tear off that has found its way rolling off my cheek. I don't want Bucky to see me cry.

I will see him again.

He walks up to the cryo-tank and steps into it. I smile at him one last time before the scientists flick the switch to let the laser cooling freeze him.

I turn around and cross my arms, looking over the rain forest. Another tear rolls down my cheek as I push it away.

"Thank you for still being here." Steve speaks up next to me.

"Well, as the only remainders of Team Cap." I grin to mask my pain.

"He appreciated it though."

"I know..."

Silence takes over as I hug myself against the cold. The silence soothes me as I think back to my responsibilities in New York. It's time to go back.

"The others..." I remember the note Natasha gave me, "They're in a jail house in the Atlantic Ocean." I reach for the note in my pocket and hand it to him, "Nat gave me these coordinates to give you. I should call her if I were you."

I turn around and head towards the door.

"Where are you going?"

I turn my head and wink, "Someone has to finish that Chem major in my name."
