Scarlette's POV

"I'm so ready for today." I whispered to myself as I scanned my outfit top to bottom.

For the first day of 10th grade I decided to wear my light ripped high wasted shorts, a pink shirt with a picture of a beach and the words California Livin' in bold, my all white high top converse and my hair in a fishtail braid. I sat down at my vanity to make sure my make up was completely blended and not too dark.  Afterwards I shoved my supplies, laptop, phone charger, and head phones into my backpack before slinging it over my shoulder and walking downstairs.

"Bye daddy!" I called to the kitchen.

"Yeah, yeah okay bye." he said and I thought he was talking to me. "Sorry honey I had a phone call. Bye, I love you babygirl." he smiled and kissed me on the forehead.

"Who were you talking to this early in the morning?" I asked and he sighed before lightly placing his hands on my shoulders.

"Uh, it was work baby. I have to go on another trip, I'm so sorry." he said looking down in shame.

"No it's fine." I rolled my eyes before pushing his hands off of me and storming out of the house.

I sat on the hammock my dad made a long time ago as I waited for Carson, my boyfriend, to come pick me up. After a few minutes a matte black mustang pulled up to my drive way and sat in park.

"Hey babe!" Carson smiled jogging over to me before pulling me into a hug and giving me a quick kiss on the lips.

"Hey." I smiled in return. We walked to his car and he opened up my door before going to his side to get in the car.

"Are you ready for today?" Carson asked pulling back the clutch and backing out of my driveway.

"As always." I said turning my head to look out the window.

Grayson's POV

"I'm so not ready for today." I sighed to myself letting my head hang low in front of the mirror in the bathroom.

I was going to change so I would look a little more decent but I didn't see a point. I was wearing my New Jersey sweatshirt with gray sweatpants, black and white converse and a light gray beanie.

I was mostly happy during the summer because I was away from everyone in school but today I have to see them again. I looked my arms up and down before pulling down the sleeves and walking into the my room.

Ethan and I have asked multiple times to move but the answer has sadly always the same, maybe.

I opened up my top drawer where my underwear was and got out my deodorant to apply a light layer. I threw it back in the drawer and grabbed my cologne off the top of my dresser. I put on a few squirts then carefully set it down. I walked over to my full body mirror and shuffled my hair around in my fingers before pushing it back.

"Gray come on! We're going to be late!" Ethan yelled banging on my door.

"Yeah, yeah, yeah I hear you. I'm coming." I sighed. I started lifting up my sleeves before remembering what was there so I quickly put it back down and walked downstairs.

"Jeez what took you so long pretty boy?" Ethan jokingly asked.

"Just trying to look all fancy, ya know?" I smiled a big cheesy smile.

"Looking like that?" he scrunched up his nose in fake disgust.

"What? I thought I looked good enough to meet the president." I smirked.

"I guess so." he said sarcastically. He threw his arm around my shoulder as we walked out the door. "Are you ready for today?" Ethan asked.

"As always." I said putting on the most fake smile I could before throwing the rock I was holding down the street.
