"Need some help?" I asked with a smirk. As soon as I spoke up she fell backwards and I got her in my arms so she wouldn't get hurt.
"HOLY SHIT GRAYSON YOU SCARED ME TO DEATH!" she whisper yelled and I held back as much laughter I could.
"What are you doing?" I asked shaking my head in disappointment.
"I was just, uh, I was," she said before I held my hand out to make her stop talking.
"Why do you need to sneak out? Just ask if you can go to a friends house." I said but she didn't look persuaded.
"Because I'm not just going to any friends house." she replied and I automatically knew what that meant.
"Carson's?" I asked and she sighed and nodded her head yes. "My mom would probably let you go to his house." I added and Scarlette shook her head no.
"Not if she knew what we did when I was over there." Scarlette replied and I knew exactly what she meant by 'what they did'. "Do you think she would let me go to a party?" she asked out of the random.
"Um I don't know maybe." I shrugged. I really didn't know because Ethan and I never go to party's unless it's with our friends Nate and Alex.
"Well do you think I should ask her?" she asked and I looked over confused.
"What other option do you have?" I asked and she bit her lip and looked at the ground deeply before responding.
"Sneak out." she said bluntly.
"No I think you should ask then I guess if she says no then I'll help you sneak out." I said and a confused smile spread across her face.
"Wait really?" she asked as if I was doing her a huge favor.
"Yeah I guess so." I answered realizing exactly what I just agreed to.
"Grayson?" she asked and I looked down at her.
"Yeah?" I asked in response.
"You can stop holding my hand." she said with a small laugh and I looked down at our linked fingers before quickly moving it and looking away as I blushed.
"Sorry." I replied and she just laughed.
"It's all good." she smiled and we stood in silence for a few seconds before remembering the whole reason I was supposed to get her.
"Oh yeah dinner is almost ready, well it's probably ready now." I said abruptly.
"Oh okay." she smiled. We walked back inside and I saw my mom and Ethan already sitting at the table dishing up the plates.
"Where have you been?" my mom asked setting down a bowl and moving her hand to her hip.
"Uh I saw her outside and she was just looking round so I told her to come in for dinner." I smiled weakly.
"Oh um okay well sit down so you can eat." she replied pointing with her hand to the two empty seats, motioning us to sit down. "Oh Scarlette?" my mom asked.
"Yes ma'am?" Scarlette asked politely.
"Your dad called me earlier and said that he missed you and if you could call him at some point." she smiled and I could see Scarlette's once curious expression turn to none at all. I reached my hand over and squeezed her hand so she wouldn't be so worried.
"I don't want to talk to him." she said with no expression what so ever.
"But Scarlette he is your father." my mom backed up and I could see Scarlette starting to get annoyed.
"So? That doesn't mean I have to talk to him." Scarlette said rolling a noodle around her fork.
"You kind of do." my mom said with an attitude.
"Mom." Ethan whispered probably to get her to stop talking.
"Just at least think about talking to him. Please?" my mom begged and I could tell Ethan was annoyed that his little whisper of hope didn't work.
"Okay fine, I will." Scarlette finished but I could tell she wasn't going to think about it at all.
-
"Scar?" I asked knocking lightly on the door.
"Yeah?" she asked in response and I knew that I could come in. I shut the door behind me carefully sat down on her bed.
"So have you thought about talking to him at all?" I asked trying not to make her annoyed or mad but I knew she would have to talk at some point.
"No not really. If I hear him talking I'm probably just going to get mad at him and I want to not be mad, annoyed or nervous for just one night." she replied rolling over and looking me deeply in the eyes.
"What if I stay in here while you talk to him?" I suggest hopefully.
"I guess." she sighs. Scarlette sits up and grabs her phone from the end of the bed. She hesitates to dial her dad's number so she looks at me for conformation. I nod my head slowly and she takes a deep breath before dialing the number and changing the setting to speaker.
"Hey baby girl." he said from the other side of the phone.
"Hey dad. What's up?" she whispered looking around the room without actually paying attention to what she was looking at.
"I need to talk to you about something important. Are you alone?" he asked and I sat up in concern. I shook my head vigorously to make her say yes.
"Y- yeah I am. What is it?" she asked in response.
"It's about a certain person." he said and she quickly took the phone off the speaker and held the phone to her ear.
Scarlette's POV
"Are you talking about who I think you are?" I asked biting my lip out of fear.
"Yes. It's about your mom." he said and I started to sweat all over. Grayson tried to grab my hand but I was in too much shock so I jumped up and started to pace around the room.
