Scarlette's POV
"Are you okay?" Carson asked snapping me out of my daydreamin'. (IM HILARIOUS YALL)
"Yeah, why?" I asked with a raised eyebrow.
"You just seem so worried about something." he says and I try not to confront him about everything he said to me.
"My dad hasn't contacted me ever since he left." I replied which isn't a complete lie it just isn't the actual reason.
"I'm sorry baby." he replied with such concern in his eyes.
I will admit I was getting scared of him. I wanted to move on from him and be happier but something is holding me back and not just the threat. I am just going to try and move past all of these scared thoughts and feelings for Grayson because it would be easier and there would be less drama.
"Okay something else has to be wrong." he says putting his hand over mine that was tapping vigorously on my notebook.
"No, nope, nothing else." I say a little too quickly for my liking.
"Babe you know you can talk to me about anything, right?" he asks with a weak smile.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I'm just a little sad my dad is gone ya know? He's always gone and it's just getting old." I say which isn't a lie either. It really was getting old and I really was sad that he is gone. No one else is here to watch me. Maybe if my mom were still here then I wouldn't be so sad but that's not how it is.
"Yeah I understand that, just please don't be scared to talk to me. Okay?" he asks and I gulp at the sound of him saying I'm scared to talk to him.
"I'm not, I promise." I smile with all the lie hidden behind my eyes that somehow he can't see through to.
Carson's POV
Scarlette was acting weird all class period but I couldn't get her to talk to me. Ugh I hope she isn't mad at me. I mean I can tell that sometimes she doesn't like when we beat up the twins but I've never had her shut me out like this. As soon as the bell rang I reached for her hand but she walked away and went to some of her friends.
"Hey Amber?" I asked pulling her arm lightly so she would fall behind the other girls.
"What's up?" she smiled but it automatically turned to a frown when she noticed I was upset.
"Has Scar talked to you at all about her dad?" I asked and she let out a sigh before answering.
"No not really. The only time she tells me about him is when she is asking him if she can come over to my house." she responded and I got very confused.
"Are you sure?" I asked squinting my eyes.
"Yeah why?" she asked in response.
"Because she told me that she hasn't talked to him ever since he left." I replied and she let out a small laugh.
"So which one of us is she lying to?" she asked and I just shrugged.
"I don't know but don't confront her about it right now." I said thinking I finished the conversation but she still had something to say.
"Wait why?" Amber asked.
"Because which ever it is she is still going through something really rough and I don't want to make her feel even worse." I admitted and Amber nodded her head in agreement. We walked away from the water fountains and I told her to head over to the girls and I would go with the guys because I think Scarlette just needs some time to her and her friends.
Grayson's POV
"We have our first day of practice today are you excited?" Ethan whispered in my ear as we got our stuff.
"Not really. I just want to get this over with." I said with an unneeded eye roll but it was given anyway.
"Oh come on you're going to like it." he smiled and we started making our way to the gym. When I looked around the big room I didn't see anyone that mostly made fun of us so that was a good thing. It was most kids in different grades which I was perfectly okay with.
"Alright let's do this thing." I breathed as we set our stuff down on the bleachers and went the group of guys in the center of the gym.

"Hey mom." I smiled as soon as Ethan and I walked in the front door.
"Hey boys. How was practice?" she asked stirring up some noodles in a big boiling pot.
"Pretty good." Ethan answered and walked into the kitchen to grab us both a bottle of water.
"So I'm guessing you talked him into it?" my mom whispered and I let out a small giggle but not loud enough for either of them to hear.
"Yep." Ethan smiled proudly. I just acted like I couldn't hear what they were talking about and waited for Ethan to bring my bottle of water.
"Hey can you go get Scarlette? Dinner is almost ready." my mom asked looking away from the pot and towards me.
"Sure." I answered and hopped up from the couch and stopping by the screen doors in the back. "Fuck." I whispered.
"What'd you say?" my mom asked.
"Huh? Nothing, I just left something outside. I'll be back." I said quickly before running outside to where Scarlette was trying to jump the fence.
