Scarlette: uh Gray do you think you could skip the rest of school with me??
It was quite a while before I got a response. I paced around my room, drank like two glasses of water, and probably checked Instagram ten times for no reason.
Grayyy: Yeah sure
Grayyy: where am I going?
Scarlette: You remember where my house is?
Grayyy: yep
Scarlette: yeah come here
Scarlette: I'll unlock the front door when you get here
I don't even know what I am going to say to Grayson, I just need someone that isn't going to question me a lot. Grayson is really good at listening so that's probably why I just naturally asked him. About five minutes later I heard a knock at the door. I ran down the stairs and slowly opened the door to make sure it was Grayson.
"What did you see a clown?" he asked with a smirk but I wasn't in the mood. I took his arm and yanked him inside then I shut the door quickly and pulled him up to my room. "Whoa slow down. What's wrong?" he asked and I tried to hold in my emotions but it didn't work.
"I- I think I saw my mom but I don't know. I was so upset I don't know if it was even real." I admitted and I could tell he was shocked even though I wasn't looking at his face.
"Wait when did you see her or when did you think you saw her?" he asked and I remembered everything that happened with the gun and her saying that my dad wouldn't want me to know who she was. I fell back and Grayson caught me before I hit the ground, losing my breath.
"I don't - I saw her a little while ago." I said trying to catch my breath.
"Come here." he whispered pulling me up from the under arms to set me on the bed. "It's okay, take as long as you need to talk." he smiled and I let out a sigh of relief.
After quite a few minutes of us sitting in silence not speaking I finally got the courage to speak up. I lifted my head off of Grayson's shoulder and wiped the mostly dry tears before starting to speak.
"When I came in my room I heard someone drop something, not breaking it just dropping it. Then when I went down stairs to see who it was, the person I thought was my mother, pulled a gun out and asked who I was. The person said that my dad wouldn't want me to know who it was and that's when the person walked out before I got the smallest glimpse of the person." I answered tripping up on almost every word I spoke.
"Wait whoa, they pulled a gun on you?" he asked trying to look down into my eyes but I just looked away so I wouldn't get trapped in his chocolaty caramel eyes.
"Y- yeah." I answered nervously even though I felt completely safe with Grayson.
"Why didn't you call the police first?" he questioned and I got confused.
"What do you mean why didn't I call the police first? I already told you that I thought that was my mom." I responded getting a little aggravated.
"So who cares? Even if it was your mom they pulled a gun on you and if you didn't say who you were they probably would've shot you!" Grayson argued in response.
"I don't want to ruin any relationship with her and getting her sent to jail is definitely not going to help." I shouted getting more and more annoyed the more he argued with me.
"What relationship? She hasn't been a part of your life at all and now she randomly shows up and pulls a gun to you? Yeah great relationship you have going." Grayson said standing up and scratching his head with his hands.
"Get out." I whispered letting a tear slip down my cheek more out of frustration than sadness.
"Excuse me?" he asked turning towards me with a confused expression.
"I said get out." I said sternly and I could see a wave of worry wash over his face.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean what I said I'm just-" he tried to defend but at this point I didn't want to listen to anyone.
"Grayson please just go." I begged with a sigh and looking down at my legs.
"I'll see you later." he sighed standing up from his almost begging position and walking out of my room.
Grayson's POV
Truth is I only said all of that stuff to her because I was scared for her. Yes she is right she could've seen her mom but she pulled a gun on Scarlette. It doesn't matter if she didn't realize it was her daughter at first she still did it and if Scarlette didn't say who she was she could've gotten seriously hurt.
E: bro where did you run off to???
Grayson: I was just annoyed so I went home
Grayson: see you after school??
E: uh yeah
I only lied to Ethan because he doesn't exactly like the fact that I am so helpful or nice towards Scarlette and if he knew I ran off at her call he would be mad. Since I told Ethan that I went home I decided that that is the best place to go. On my walk home I noticed people by the river that Ethan and I used to swim at all the time when I was little. I stopped for a short detour to see who it was and as soon as I took a few steps I knew who it was. Carson, Amber, Payton, Toby, Alex and a few other popular kids were the people down by the river.
"She's so full of shit." Amber giggled and I could only think of one person that they could be talking about, Scarlette.
"Hey don't say that!" Carson defended. "She has to have a reason for what she said." he backed himself up.
"Watch her be with the twins or something gross like that." Payton laughed and I took a deep breath and held it in place as I quietly took a few steps back then started jogging off to my house.
"Aye it's one of the ugly ass twins." Carson laughed and I heard all of them starting to run behind me.
I ran faster and faster until I got into my house. I slammed the door and locked it then ran up to my room and locked that door.
"You can't hide in there forever!" Toby yelled from under my window. I laid down on my bed and tried to shut out the yelling and screaming from outside my house as I best as I could.
What if they figure out we are living together, well only for a month, but still?
