The next day Julie found herself on time for English with plenty of time to spare. The desks had been rearranged so there two sides of desks facing each other with a few desks in the middle facing towards the front. Julie had no clue what had caused the seating arrangement, but randomly sat down. Ivy trailed in behind her with glue stuck to her hands.
"Ivy, why is there glue on your hands?" Julie asked.
"Uh... Art class." Ivy lied. It was hard to tell when Ivy was lying... For most people. Juliet could clearly tell that it was a lie. This time it was an obvious lie.
"Ivy, you don't even have an art class."
"I'll tell you later." Ivy whispered as Mr. Harvey walked in. The bell rang.
"Alright class. Please stand up." Mr. Harvey said. The class stood up from their seats. Mr. Harvey pointed to the right side of the class. "I want Anthony Russo, Kyle Aarons, Alicia Ritcher, Sean Draper, Jamie Scott, Romeo Cameron, Tyler Micks, and Eloise Parks on this side." Mr. Harvey read the names off the list. The students moved to their proper side.
Mr. Harvey pointed to the other side of the room. "On this side I want Eric Jackson, Anna Zeller, Kaylee Emerson, Isaac Smith, Juliet Hunter, Emily Baker, and Ross Wall on this side." Julie sat in the front row of the left side. She looked curiously at the few students who were left. Ivy was one of them.
"Alright and last but not least I want Jason Matthews, Mark Kent, and Ivy Collins in the middle." As Mr. Harvey read off the names, the remaining students moved to the middle.
"Now I bet you're all curious why the sudden splitting of the room. First, let me just go over a couple of rules. No fraternizing with the enemy. While in class you are not allowed to be friendly with the opposite side. When you leave this room you may be friends again. You may be friendly towards people in the middle or on your own side but not the opposing side, understand?"
The class nodded. Mr. Harvey went to write something on the white board. Juliet groaned when he had seen what he had written.
"Why does the world hate me?" She mumbled. "Mr. Harvey, is there any way I might be able to sit this unit out?" Juliet asked the teacher.
"I'm sorry, Juliet, but this is a very important unit." Mr. Harvey told her. She groaned again.
What he had written on the board was the words: Montagues and Capulets. Montague was written on the right side of board and Capulets was on the left. She was on the Capulets side. They were going to read William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.
Juliet glanced at Ivy who was laughing her butt off. She was nearly falling out of her seat with laughter. Mark, Eric, and Anthony were also amused. From across the room Romeo shot her a flirtatious look.
"What did I do to make the world hate me this much?" Juliet groaned. This was going to be a long unit.
