By the time Juliet sat down at lunch whispers about the new old kid were flying around the small school and unfortunately her name was attached to some of those whispers.
"Did you hear? Romeo Cameron was totally flirting with Juliet Hunter."
"Did you hear? Romeo Cameron asked Juliet out in front of the entire class."
"Omg did you know that the new kid and Juliet Hunter used to go out?"
"I totally think that Juliet should go out with Romeo Cameron, you know the new kid. Wouldn't that be cute?"
"I heard they did the dirty deed, if you know what I mean."
The whispers got more and more outrageous within minutes. Ivy sat down next to Julie.
"S'up, Jules." The redhead smiled. Two more of their friends sat down.
"What's going on with you?" Mark Kent asked, looking at Julie. He had dark hair and skin along with bright green eyes. He was one of Ivy and Julie's closet friends.
"I bet it's the rumors that are floating around." Eric Jackson laughed as he sat down with his lunch tray. Eric had light reddish-brown hair and blue eyes. He was another one of their closest friends. Juliet glared at him.
Ivy nodded. "That's exactly it."
"He's so annoying! I can't believe people think I should go out with him!" Juliet groaned laying her head down on the table.
"Well... You are Romeo and Juliet. People ship you guys because you are named after the lovers from the greatest love story of all time." Eric explained.
"That doesn't make me feel better."
"I wasn't trying to." Eric took a sip of his chocolate milk.
Romeo approached their table. Julie glared at him.
"What do you want?" She hissed. He put his hands up in defense.
"Whoa no need to be so hostile, babe. I just came over to give you this." Romeo held out a little slip of paper.
"Don't call me babe." Juliet excepted the slip just to see what was on it. "The love of your life will step onto your path soon. Lucky Numbers: 16, 17, 21, 28, 71, 88. What is this supposed to be? Are you hitting on me again?" Juliet asked annoyed. Romeo shook his head.
"No that's from a fortune cookie. I didn't have any paper. Flip it over."
Juliet flipped it over. Written on it was: 875-6578.
"Is this your phone number?" Julie asked. Romeo smirked.
"Yep, so you can call me any time, babe." He winked at her again. Julie was about to shred the fortune cookie note into pieces when it was snatched from her hand. Julie's cellphone was taken from the table as well.
"Ivy!" She exclaimed. Ivy had logged into Julie's phone and put the number in it. Then she took out a little piece of scrap paper and started writing as Juliet snatched her phone back. Ivy handed her little scrap of paper to Romeo.
"Here's Julie's number. I'm sure she would love to call you." Ivy smirked. Romeo took the scrap.
"Thanks." He winked at Julie who rolled her eyes. "See ya later, babe."
