"Pardon me Princess but the King has requested your presence in his chambers."  Lady Kaylessa informs as she steps in the office.

I look up from the mountain of paperwork in relief. Placing my pen back in its cradle I rise from the chair and move around the desk.

"Is everything alright?"

"He's still a bit tired but other than that he is fine." She reassures while holding the door open for me. "This is just speculation on my part but I believe he wishes to discuss the school protocol you put forward or it could be about Lord Kieran." She coyly sends me a wink.

I turn beet red in embarrassment. "I've told you people over and over again that there is nothing going on between the ninth general and me. I offered him friendship and as a sign of respect he kissed the back of my hand. It's no big deal."

Her face softens when she notices the exasperation written all over my face. "Don't worry Princess Keeisa; we know Lord Kieran would never do such a thing. In all honesty we're just teasing the both of you."

My blush dissipates from my cheeks as we arrive in front of my father's room. Lady Kaylessa knocks swiftly before opening the door announcing that I've arrived.

"Keeisa, Keeisa, Keeisa!" Jacques hollers rushing from jumping on my father's bed to tackling me in a bear hug.

Luckily I just manage to catch him. "What would you have done if I didn't catch you?" I tease playfully.

He looks at me with innocently trustful eyes, "You're my big sister, and you'll always catch me."

He might as well have torn out my heart strings. That was the sweetest, most thoughtful thing anyone has ever said to me.

I hug him tightly, "You're right about that. Now, do you want to hear a secret I heard?" He nods his head eagerly. "A little birdie told me that the Generals wanted to play hide and seek with you. They're already hiding; if you find them all by supper time then you get a prize."

Jacques squirms out of my arms, races to find the generals only to stop by the open door looking horrified, "My big sister can talk to birds... girls are weird." With that he leaves the room leaving me gaping at him while my father laughs loudly on the bed.

"It's not that funny..." I say pouting as I turn my attention to my father, who's still laughing might I add.

"You're right, it wasn't funny it was hilarious!" He says in between laughs. A couple minutes pass before he finally calms down. My father pats the bed next to him, "Come sit with me."

I cross the room, setting myself down comfortably. "What did you need me for?"

"I have two things to discuss with you." He starts, leaning back against the mahogany headboard of his king sized bed. "The first is the school idea you have. I fully support what you're trying to do and I'm going to approve it. Secondly, Kieran has come to me asking for your hand in marriage, do you wish to marry him?"

I stare at him shell-shocked. Lord Kieran asked him for permission to marry me? Unable to form words my jaw simply slacks as I gape at him.

My father bursts out laughing, "That was priceless... Keeisa I was teasing you. He most certainly won't be proposing."
