"We need to pull it out!" Alpha Cyran growls angrily.

"Are you trying to be funny?" Lord Kieran stares at him like he's grown another head. "We can't pull the damn thing out without knowing what damage it caused internally! Taking it out will do nothing but make her bleed out."

"That's enough you two." I scold, my voice pitched low but filled with authority. "There's enough going on right now without you two adding to it. We need to help this gryphon first."

"Princess Keeisa, please be reasonable!" Lady Vanya pleads. "You are the heir to the kingdom and as such your health must take precedence over everything, including the gryphon. You are our top priority."

The elemental magic swirls inside me as my temper rises. I fix each general with a withering glare, "I will only say this once. I am not someone you put on a pedestal. You will not dictate me like I am nothing more than a petulant child. Hear me when I say you will save gryphon before me. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes Princess." They say simultaneously, all with looks of regret and admiration.

The gryphon nudges my shoulder with its beak and lets out a sound full of sorrow. I smile and carefully stroke its soft, feathery head. "This is not your fault. No one here blames you for any of this. My friends are going to come closer now and they're going to help you. I'll be right by your side the entire time."

Freya and Demeter carefully approach until they're mere feet from the gryphon and I. At my nod they set to work. Freya slowly kneels beside the gryphons injured leg and touches the trap delicately. Her eyes close and ever so slowly the trap begins to unmake itself until it is nothing but mere ash on the ground.

Freya moves away and Demeter instantly takes her place. Her hands hover over the wound before she looks to me inquisitively. Careful to keep the gryphons attention on me, I continue to rub its head and give her a subtle nod. She sends me a smile before focusing completely on her task. Sheer determination shines from her eyes as the wound begins to slowly mend itself.

It takes longer than usual due to the sheer size and depth of the wound but half an hour later Demeter stands and wearily moves away from the gryphon. She doesn't get very far before she falls to her knees, utterly exhausted.

"Demeter, are you alright?" I call out in concern.

She waives it off, "I'm fine. I just used a lot more magic than I'm used to."

I focus back on the gryphon as it slowly stretches and tests its leg. At first the gryphon is hesitant and barely applies pressure to the once injured leg. Slowly it realizes the wound is healed as it starts to walk around. A smile finds its way on everyone's faces while we watch the gryphon jump around the garden happily.

Out of nowhere Abraxas lets out a deafening roar of absolute rage and grows big enough for his wings to completely surround me like a cocoon. Standing on his hind legs, he lowers his head next to mine.

"What's going on?" I reach my hand out only to quickly pull it back when he bares his razor sharp teeth at me. "Abraxas!"

"Shut up for once!" His furious voice like a whip in my mind. "The gryphon is healed and you're all just happily watching the thing! Have you forgotten you're injured? You have no self awareness. All you ever do is look out for someone else, it's annoying and so damn frustrating! You are my other half Keeisa. I waited for so long and I refuse to lose you so early. Put yourself first for once!"
