CHAPTER 4
I felt that I should help River, but he seemed to have complete control of the battle until a single man stopped his sword with his bare hands, River jumped back, not surprised.
"Maybe you guys should use powers after all," River said still with no emotions, I felt as if River wouldn't even show pain on his face. Suddenly as I thought that, a magic purple ball hit River, I couldn't help but lean forward to try to push him out the way, but I stopped just as I took a step forward. River deflected the magic with a simple flick of the fingers, we were all shocked unable to speak.
He tilted his head to the enemy as if saying 'bring it on!' That's when I figured it out, River was immune to all magic. Was that the reason Alice wanted him to join? My answer found itself right away, I looked at the other members but realized that they were as stunned as I was before, Alice appeared to be able to control her shock as she calmed down and took a deep breath.
The enemy seemed as shocked as we were, they were honestly pathetic, they ran away pleading for mercy, I wouldn't even call it ran, it was more of a scramble back over the fence. After they were gone, River just shrugged and returned into the house, but as he left I realized sparks coming off his sword, his sword was a ghostly sword that contained powers.
We also returned into the house as we all gathered inside Alice's room except River. Cinna had peered into his room to see what he was doing but he wasn't there.
"Well...um....that was a complete surprise," said Lucia awkwardly trying to break the uneasy silence. Alice nodded mumbling something about it being unknown to them.
"Let's talk about the mission now, I have a feeling the person of the cause was from that coward group but he wasn't there, the man is meant to be a lot stronger according to the man from the phone call," Alice said with a suddenly change to a stern voice. I frowned thinking that maybe it wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be.
"We also still don't know this person's power, that'll probably make it a lot harder," replied Cinna in a concerned voice. We nodded in agreement. Suddenly there was a loud bang on the door which sounded like it was meant to be a knock which interrupted our conversation. Who was it? It couldn't have been River, as stated by Cinna, River was out doing something else and also if it was River, he would just barge in by pushing the door open slightly.
Cinna walked slowly to the door as we followed closely behind, Alice had grabbed her sword from the corner of her room and held it up. Cinna clutched the door knob so tightly that his knuckles had turned white, he gradually turned the door knob to open, then he swung it open in a instant.
A single boy stood in middle of the door. A boy with dark blue, flowing hair like a smooth running lake looked at us. The thing I realized first was a light amount of continuously spinning water span around the middle of his body. Then it struck me, I felt as if I was about to faint but I managed to hold myself up, the boy, I recognized him, the boy from the previous group that I single handedly took out. Why wasn't he dead? I had seen clearly that the entire group was wiped out, did he run before I blasted out all my power?
"Um...Hello, I was wondering if I could join your agency," the boy whispered shyly. I was about to speak when Lucia stole my line.
"Why should we trust you?" said Lucia tilting her head sideways. It appeared that she had figured out who it was too.
"It's okay, don't be so harsh," said Alice kindly. Alice leaded him to sit in the room, she looked slightly threatening as for she still held her sword.
"For those who realized, yes I was in the previous team the girl standing over there defeated," he said in the same soft voice as before, he pointed to me after he finished talking.
"Then, why are you here?" Lucia said in a demanding way, Alice couldn't help but glance at her with a look that meant 'are you serious?'
"The boss of the group found me almost dead but then he helped me to live so I was grateful, but then I gradually learnt that the group wasn't doing things for good, it was only for the fun of killing. I didn't like that so I tried to find a chance to leave and that time was perfect. I tried to look for you guys because you seemed to be doing things to help the community around," he replied. Alice, Cinna and even Lucia nodded. I dipped my head down to show a nod.
Just as we were having a laugh, the creaking floorboards stopped us. River stood leaning on the door frame somehow looking tired.
"Hi," River said, "looks like you got here already, Zylen."
