CHAPTER 10
"So, should we set off in groups?" asked Zylen.
"Okay, you guys decide among-st yourselves and we'll do the same," said Fiana with her group finally calmed down.
After a long period of time trying to arrange groups, the groups were, Alice, Kira and Zylen as one, River and I as two and Lucia and Cinna as three. I peered over River to see where Cyrus was, he stayed in a group of three, as soon as our eyes met, I turned, trying to avoid eye contact.
"The slayers will set off from the town center, we should go there too, so that we can attack them," said the boy who argued a load.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We headed out of the house together but as time past, trying to actually search for the slayers, we got separated, more like everyone did, we were all just left with our own partner. Walking into a tree filled area, I felt a chilly shiver, the forest seemed eerie and out of place, the surrounding of the forest was a bright plain grass area that was busy with workers and villagers. The people avoided this forest, making me feel suspicious about it.
Carelessly, River and I walked further into the forest. Suddenly, I realized what we were getting ourselves into, a fresh trap made by the slayers. The forest on the outside was ordinary and appeared to be small, only about two kilometers long, it shouldn't take long to walk through, but on the inside, the forest is a deadly maze that doesn't allow you to get out. It wasn't going to end.
I glanced at River and saw that he had realized it too, as his eyeballs moved around, searching for the slayers, despite that, his eyes remained looking glassy and hollow, I could never understand him. Then the glint of a shiny blade caught my eyes as I saw a blade flying to me from directly in front. I leaned backwards just enough to dodge the blade, I spun the blade around so that the sharp end faced the place where it came from, while the blade was still in air, I used the palm of my hand to hit it back.
I stood back up properly about take a step forward but River put his arm out to stop me, River stared down fiddling with a wire trying to break the trap that laid before us.
I smiled. "Thanks." River didn't reply instead he looked past me and pointed to the left of me. I turned around, two slayers raced towards us, their speed was almost unreachable, I would have thought it was until River began to head for them, first slowly, but then he gradually sped up and I could barely see him. He dodged all their attacks as he started his counterattack.
"Looks like I better join in," I muttered to myself with a grin as I teleported behind them with a small click of my fingers, I finally started to understand my powers more. Punching the enemy with a glowing fist didn't hurt as much as I thought it would, I gathered my powers little by little into my fist to punch them, when I got the time, I was able to draw my sword out, River was already fighting with his. Slashing constantly took a lot of my energy but at-least, the slayer were gone.
The forest should have disappeared too since this forest was fake and one of the slayers had made it. I stood stunned, the forest hadn't disappeared.
"There is another slayer around in here," River wiped his sword clean of blood and returned it back into it's sheath.
"Yep, you guys actually managed to realize that this forest is fake, that impressive," I spun around and saw a young teenage boy, just a bit older than us, leaning against a tree. "Well, why don't you guys enjoy yourselves a bit more with a fight," the boy laughed wickedly as he came for us.
"This must be why I hate slayers," River mummer-ed as he blocked the attack of the boy's with his sword. "Yet, I'm not meant to be involved in this."
Fighting for about twenty minutes, I began to feel tired, the boy's attack hit me slamming me into a tree, I coughed up some blood and spat it onto the floor. I wiped my lips clean of blood and clenched my fists on the ground as I forced myself to stand up.
"You alright?"River asked lending me a helping hand to stand. I nodded and got up to my feet.
"Ahh...I'm bored, maybe you guys should go some-where else to play," the boy sighed and clicked his fingers. I frowned, preparing myself for the worst.
Suddenly the scenery changed around us and the boy disappeared. We appeared in a stone-y cave that had vines dangling down from the entrance. Outside, a white field of snow covered the land. The trees around was covered in snow, the area seemed somehow familiar.
"That idiotic slayer, changed dimensions again?" River mumbled to himself as he peered outside.
