Kat's POV:

"So I guess we should leave this room now, huh, hubby?"

"I guess we should my beautiful bride."

God I don't know how we were gonna be able to do this, because not even five minutes into pretending to be married we're over here making jokes about it.

"Wait, Mason, how are you gonna convince your brother that I'm not only a vampire, but also your wife?"

"Just follow my lead Kitty Kat."

With that vote of confidence Mason led me out of the room, for the first time in what was probably hours, and began to lead me down a maze of immensely confusing hallways. When we first started moving I attempted to memorize the hallways and the way back to Mason's room, but after about the first set of stairs and fourth hallway change I gave up.

Eventually we made it to what I can only assume is a ballroom. Yes, a freaking ballroom, just when I thought this castle thing couldn't get fancier. At the opposite end of the ballroom I could see the figure of who I could only assume is Mason's brother. Before we were even halfway there Mason's brother shot around and got into an overtly aggressive stance as if he assumed he was being attacked.

"Brother," Mason spoke in an extremely formal and manly voice "this is Kat. She is my wife and a vampire of the northern kindgdom."

"Mmmhm. Well Mason... if she truely is of the northern kingdom then she must know their kingdom motto." He then turned his sharp and calculated gaze on me and said

"So do you sweetie. Do you know? Because I do not believe that my underachieving brother could possibly catch a vampire as beautiful as yourself. You must not be a vampire. He has said his entire life that he could never love a vampire so tell me the truth."

"Uhh uhhh..." I started stuttering at a complete loss for words as I realized that this is how he was going to figure everything out. Not even 20 minutes out the gate and our "brilliant" plan was already taking a turn and blowing up in smoke.

"Really Mason. I think you could have at least hired an actress who could speak let alone attempt to be convincing. So tell me dear what are you really?"

I was about to keep stuttering when I heard Mason's voice urging me to answer his brother's ever present question, and in a sultry voice I didn't even know I had I told Mason's brother what he wanted to hear.

"I am a vampire of the Northern Kingdom Sir. And our kingdoms motto is cinera gloria sera est which otherwise translates to glory paid to ashes comes to soon."

As I spoke I could feel Mason's confidence and knowledge surging through my veins. He was the one pushing me, protecting me, and giving me power.

"Wow young lady, you made quite a comeback... maybe you are of the northern kingdom. But I'm keeping my eye on you."

With that he stalked away as I tried to contain my laughter because that was literally the most cliché thing he could have said. I turned to face Mason again expecting to see him alight with laughter just as I was but instead i came to face a stony expression of anger.

"Mason... what's wrong? It worked... he believes us we're in the clear."

He looked down at me and sighed as he explained why it was not as simple as I thought it was. Apparently his brother wasn't the biggest of our problems.
