A/N - I don't think there is enough of these out there :) Italics are thoughts as always.
Y/n was the only person Tony Stark feared, not in a childish way, but in a way that he could not bring himself to joke around in her presence. Maybe it was on accounts of her strange power; her ability to morph shadows with telekinesis like abilities, or her solid black eyes.
Bucky Barnes on the other hand, had gotten to know her. They were both quietly feared and had bonded over their slight exclusion from the group. Even the kind Steve Rogers feared Y/n, and that said a lot.
The strange feelings towards her had not gone unnoticed, and now she was going to voice that.
I will simply walk into the room, tell them how I feel, and leave. Easy. Right?
Still Y/n had an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Why do they hate me?
Still she pushed through the hallway; almost to the group space.
No one wants me here.
Now her hand pushed the door open.
They won't care.
The room became hushed and uncomfortable as Y/n's presence was noticed. Even Steve pretended she wasn't there. Y/n awkwardly cleared her throat before speaking, "It has come to my attention that I am not treated like a valued member of our team, even though I put in as much hard work as everyone around me. Your unwarranted fear of my abilities has brought me to a point where I am contemplating leaving the team. You've all hurt me, and all I wanted to do was let you know.".
The already awkward silence became even more uncomfortable.
I knew it.
Just as Y/n was about to leave, someone cleared their throat. Steve. "I'm sorry. I-I don't know what to say other than that.". She directed her inky black eyes in his direction as tears streamed down her face, "Thank you,".
Fake. All fake.
She rushed out of the room and ran down the hall. Back to quiet and dark room. Hearing footsteps behind her, Y/n only ran faster.
Arriving to her room she unlocked the door and relocked it as she was in it's safe confines. Not even bothering to take off her shoes she sat down on the floor behind the door and cried. Cried for her mistreatment. Cried for her loneliness. And cried for the friends she felt she'd never have.
A knock on the door ripped her from her thoughts, "Go away!".
The person only knocked again.
"I said go away!" Y/n screamed as the shadows began to swirl around her.
Yet again, the person knocked.
Unlocking the door and swinging it open, Y/n's dark eyes fell upon her only friend: an ex-assassin straight from Hell itself.
His soothing voice filled her ears, "Please don't leave Y/n.". His voice cracked as he spoke again, "You can't".
At least he cares.
Y/n fell to her knees in front of Bucky as her shoulders shook with helpless sobs. Strong hands lifted her to a standing position as the man brought her into a tight hug. "We'll get them to understand. People only fear what they can't explain sweetheart,"
Sweetheart?
A/N- angsttttttttttttt
